    Brinno PHV MAC12 Reviews

PHV MAC 1.3MP Peephole Camera, DVR and Display is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great potential but need to have WiFi Pros: ----- - Ability to see outside person without opening the Door - Review of pictures taken - Multiple file format for saving audio/video (avi, jpeg etc) - From outiside it is not possible to realize this device inside - Fits standard hole (Comes in two sized) Cons: ----- - Resolution is Extra Poor (Very bad when seen thru on the monitor). Especially notciable in low light - No WiFi option to review the pictures - No FTP server option to save the files to (I Guess would come with WiFi) - Only MicrosSD card (Would be nice to have standard SD instead of micro SD)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea, but one fault I live in an apartment and bought this camera to view and document people at my door, as well as potential illegal entry. I like its discreet appearance (from outside you can't tell it's a camera) and ease of use. Picture quality is adequate, but not as good as advertised. I like the logging and timestamp features, as well as the light enhancement. Two major problems: 1. It takes too long for the camera to activate after the motion sensor is triggered. This means lots of photos/videos of an empty hallway because whatever triggered the sensor is long gone by the time the camera activates. If a courier comes to your door for example, doesn't bother to knock, and just leaves a tag, you won't get footage of them to file a complaint. 2. It's supposed to overwrite the SD card when full, but instead it just stops working - without alerting the user. I found out when I tried to view something outside my door and the unit kept shutting off immediately. You have to check the camera log at least once a day to catch this problem. Then the SD card must be cleared using your computer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs to be in a well lit environment I am a licensed installer/professional integrator. When installing this unit in an apartment building, I discovered that it doesn't handle hallway lighting conditions well. With the subject backlit (the hallway lighting is on the ceiling and not next to the door), the image was noisy and nearly useless for identification. The unit also takes over 10 seconds to wake up to show an image of who is at the door. The client demanded a refund.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Motion Detection won't turn on the screen! I just got this today. Without installing any MicroSD Card, the motion detection worked great and the screen will turn itself ON when it detected motion. However, once I installed the MicroSD card into the machine. The screen no longer turn on via Motion Detection! I have to push the POWER button to get the screen turn on SOMETIME I don't know what happen! I tried the 4GB MicroSD card that come with the camera. Same result, I am now using 32GB and force to disable the motion detection by turning the switch OFF. With it turn on, yes, it detect the motion and record, but the screen won't turn on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yes & no On the advertisement it shows crystal clear images. Reality they were not so clear. Also it only shoot 3 seconds of motion detection, 10 seconds if you stand there and push the button. Play back by using the camera it self had some flaws too. After downloading it played better on the computer. And going through each frame of footage a whole week it was better there was only 3 seconds of video. BUT IT DID WHAT I WANTED IT TO. It captured 3 second of video of some one, who you could identify (mostly clear), vandalizing our locks. BUSTED...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Installed really easy and does what it states it will. The motion sensor via detecting changes in light works well for my situation - it doesn't capture everything but it works fairly well - very happy with the purchase. Would like to see a firmware upgrade to provide more options like the ability to record for longer each detection and greater sensitivity settings on the sensor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs additional lighting This would be a better product if you can adjust the brightness of the camera and also make it compensate for backlighting. I had to add a motion-activated light above our door to see who is outside in the evenings because its night mode is not adequate enough to capture the person outside. Another need for improvement is the motion sensor of the camera. Its sensitivity cannot be adjusted; thus, it records the slightest movements it senses. Nonetheless with the additional light we added, it is better than an ordinary peephole.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My Peephole Camera I replaced my standard peephole with this to try and record who approaches my door easier that the standard peephole. It was easy to install and works OK however it is not sensitive enough at night and the motion sensor is too sensitive, it picks up cars passing by on the other side of the street and all it need to do is pickup activity on my walk.

    question

can motion be detected through glass?
    Asked by: Anonymous
This camera does not have a typical motion sensor , it detects changes in light through the camera lens. It works best if the subject is backlit.
