Leupold designed the Dark Earth 3.5-10x40 Mark 4 LR/T M2 Riflescope for long range tactical applications and outfitted it to withstand the toughest of conditions, carrying out the most demanding tasks. The optical system was engineered to provide superior performance, and features Leupold's proprietary Xtended Twilight Lens System with fully multi-coated lenses for improved image brightness and true color in low-light. Additionally, their ion-assisted DiamondCoat 2 lens coating protects against debris and abrasions while blackened-edge optical elements reduce stray light from glare and improve image contrast. All optical elements are also made of eco-friendly, lead-free optical glass. Another highlight of this scope is the illuminated Tactical Milling Reticle (TMR), located in the 2nd focal plane. It features four posts with mid-point reference bars and an illuminated crosshair with mil-based vertical and horizontal markings.
Complementing the advanced optical system, this riflescope also features a solid and precise opto-mechanical construction. The housing is made from aluminum and features a 30mm single-piece maintube, water and fogproof performance, a fast focus lockable eyepiece, and a slip-free texturing on M2 BDC turrets and other adjustment rings. The M2 BDC turrets offer precision graduation and 1/2 MOA windage and 1/2 MOA elevation increments. Also noteworthy is the 3x twin bias spring erector system that provides more holding force to withstand recoil. To protect the optics during transport, this optic includes two flip-up lens caps.
