The Nikon HB-69 Bayonet Lens Hood is a bayonet-mount hood designed for use with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II Lens. It keeps stray light from entering the lens to reduce the effects of flare during shooting.

HB-69 Bayonet Lens Hood is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Necessary accessory for AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm lens Nikon should really include these hoods with their lenses - even inexpensive ones such as the 18-55mm zoom. This plastic hood helps to prevent physical damage to the lens that might occur when bumping into something while carrying a small DSLR with the lens mounted. The hood also helps to cut down on glare a bit. (Years ago, Nikon made these from metal.) I always buy the Nikon branded products, rather than the generics, as they tend to have slightly better construction. I bought the Nikon DSLR kit (with the lens for which this hood is intended) as a gift for a young person.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected! I have this lens hood on my Nikkor DX 18-55mm lens F/3.5-5.6 VRII and it works great! Nice quality and clicks on securely to the end of my lens. Little tricky to get off, but I've noticed if you just pinch the ends together before twisting it makes things a lot easier. I've found no vingnetting due to this lens. Only bad thing I've found it that this lens hood will cast a shadow on your subject when using the pop up flash and having the lens set to around 18mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For Nikon 18-55mm I've recently begun using lens hoods as lens protection in lieu of UV filters. I often use flare in my photos, but on those occasions when its unwanted the hood also reduces, or eliminates the stray light. I use a small piece of tape with the lens info on it to match hoods to lenses. The 18-55 is a compact lens, so there hasn't been any issue with getting the lens cap secured when the hood is in place. On some larger lenses I have to be more careful to make sure the cap has locked onto the lens barrel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What You'd Expect Look, it's a bayonet lens hood, not a new zoom lens or other toy you're more apt to get real excited about trying out. That said, the HB-69 is a sturdy plastic hood and cuts down on sun glare as you would hope. It easily twists and locks into position on the DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens on my D3300. It easily fits over the Hoya filter I've got on that lens and I have no problem using it with the lens' standard cap. Yes, it's also more expensive than an aftermarket non-Nikon hood. I've never tried out one of the competitor's lens hoods so I can't tell you whether it's really worth the premium. That said, I can tell you the plastic shouldn't break easily and it fits just as you'd expect from an OE part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, locks on tight I was a little concerned at first when I was trying to attach the hood because it was fitting very loosely. But you just have to make sure you turn it all the way until it clicks into place, then it's locked on tightly. After reading others' reviews on how they always use a lens hood, I am beginning to do the same myself, and this lens hood is perfect for the go-to lens that I am using most often. I originally bought the wrong size lens hood, and the B&H customer service team was very easy to work with to make sure that I got the right product in exchange.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HB 69 Lens Hood for Nikon 18-55mm lens Just ordered and received from B&H. lens hood Does Not Stay secure to the 18-55mm lens falls off constantly. This could either be a design problem or the mount on the 18-55 mm lens needs to be redone to accommodate this lens hood. The simplest solution for Nikon would be to make an adapter for this lens hood so it will stay secure on the lens body. No instructions with lens hood on how it should be secured to camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works As It Should I bought this hood to replace a cheap rubber hood that vignettes on the wide side of the 18-55mm vrii. Good shade with no vignetting. It fits great, twisting and snapping in place securely. It's expensive compared to 3rd party brands(only reason for 4 stars) but not sure first hand how it compares in quality and fit as I have not used the others. Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Standard Hood, Excellent Customer Service From B&H The lens hood is what you would expect from a plastic hood. It fits tightly to the lens, with a definite snap as it locks into place. There is good retention, so there are no worries of it coming loose. The reason for this review though is B&H's customer service. The hood came damaged, clearly having been stepped on or crushed during shipping. The first hood was cracked in half at one spot, and one petal was chipped. I called the customer service line and explained the problem. The representative sent me a replacement, no questions asked, and let me keep the broken hood instead of going through the hassle of returning such a small item. I am more confident when ordering online from them now, because I know any issues will be resolved without hassle.
