A solid piece for your RAM Mount system if it requires mounting to a tube up to 1 1/2 inches thick. Stays solid once mounted, you can tighten it pretty good without over-tightening the knob. Allows you to put your system in different areas where tubing exists. Recommended.

I purchased together the RAM Small Tough-Claw, Short Double Socket Arm, and Universal X-Grip for Large Phones as a phone holder for my car. I cannot convey how sick I am of suction cups and other cheap fasteners that fall off or break while I’m driving. This package clamps (no drilling) on the lip of the dashboard above the screen. It is SOLID. I can get it in the perfect position and it doesn’t even vibrate. I could not recommend it more.

I'm using this to attach a cell phone to the handlebar of a motorcycle It holds very firm and does not move once tightened. However be aware that even if it is a size "small" it is a little larger and bulkier than it looks.

Don't let the small descriptor mislead you. This clamp is large enough if you are planning to use it on just about any standard sized tube (1-1.5 inch) or railing. Mine is coupled with a medium length jointed arm and a holder for a tablet I have for multiple uses. My tablet with the cover is a tad on the heavy side and this clamp eliminates worries about flimsier alternatives. I use it on a mic stand for playing music, the pedestal guard on my boat for a chart plotter application and clamped to the yoke in an airplane to secure an electronic flight bag application and this clamp works in all 3 situations. The tough part of the description is right on. This clamp is definitely built tough for multiple applications.

This has an excellent holding strength to weight ratio and is an excellent choice in many applications. However it isn't as versatile as I would like. In particular I don't find it to be very good at holding flat objects, and results vary with round objects depending on their diameter. If you are attaching to something in the right size range it will work wonderfully. My other reservation is that the clamp is not spring loaded which makes it a bit more of a hassle to reposition. If you aren't regularly reposition it then that isn't really a disadvantage, but I suspect some of Ram Mount's other products would be even more secure then.
