Hahnemühle 10641230 reviews

Photo Silk Baryta 310 Inkjet Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hahnemuhle's attempt I hesitate to give the paper 5 stars as it is very delicate. If a fingernail touches it, you have a strong scratch on the surface. The surface may harden over time, but I haven't had a print that long. The Ilford prints I have around are much more resistant to scratching, or so it seems to me. Otherwise, they have come closest to reproducing the Ilford Gold Silk Baryta paper of all the contenders. It is a beautiful surface and prints exceedingly well...just protect the surface!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best in a blind test I did a print comparison of this paper versus Ilford Galerie Prestige Gold Fiber Silk, Hahnemuhle FineArt Barysta and Hanhnemuhle Barysta FB. I was looking to replace the Ilford which was discontinued in 13x19. All papers were run through an Epson Photo Stylus R3000 using a colored test target on a calibrated 30 monitor. I check for OBA's with a UV light. The best was this Photo Silk Barysta. The Ilford produced colors which were deeper than those on the monitor, whereas all the Hahnemuhle's were dead on. The FineArt Barysta came in 2nd, as I didn't like the irregular surface(not a criticism, it's just how this paper is made) compared to the smooth surface of the Photo Silk. Color depth, tonal reproduction, sharpness were identical between these two. The Barysta FB came in third, with not as much sharpness as the other two Hahnemuhle's. The Photo Silk was the sharpest of all the papers but a tie with the FineArt Barysta. Fleshtones were perfect among all the Hahnemuhle products. The Photo Silk had brighter whites than the two other Hahnemuhle's, despite the fact that the other two had moderate optical brighteners on UV exposure; the Photo Silk had virtually none if any. The price for the Photo Silk is the cheapest of all 4 papers. It's said to have good rather than excellent moisture resistance, and fast rather than instant drying in the other two Hahnemuhle's. I can accept these two drawbacks. Paper weight is similar among all four. So I found the replacement for the Ilford Galerie Prestige GFS I was using, and will use the Hahnemuhle Photo Silk Baryta as my new choice of papers in both 8.5x11 and 13x19. I'm quite happy that it turns out to be the best value among the four.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Paper at Reasonable Unit Cost Mostly Landscape and Portraits Terrific weight and feel, contrast, detail, color gamut and saturation. Slight silk texture on gloss paper similar to Ilford Gold Fibre Silk and Smooth Pearl. Less 'pebbly' than InkPress Pro Sllky and slightly less Baryta-like than Canson Platine Fibre Rag and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl. Unit Price Considered - 5 stars. Without price consideration 4.5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and beautiful paper. This paper gives beautiful rich color while having a nice thickness and weight to it. A very good choice for somewhere in between the typical photo paper and the fine art paper. Love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beuatiful tones, but.. I think the tones produced by this paper are excellent, good d-max and sharpness. Would not say that the paper stock itself feels like real fiber based traditional paper though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Paper I'm still testing out this paper. My printer reproduces colour better on the photo rag series but maybe that's a profile issue.
