LEE Filters S5LS overview

  • 1Description

The LEE Filters 75 x 90mm Seven5 Little Stopper 1.8 Neutral Density Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 6-stop reduction in exposure. This 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

This filter is constructed from a high quality optical glass for high definition and clarity. It is compatible with the Seven5 Filter System, which is specifically designed for use with smaller interchangeable lens cameras. This filter measures 3 x 3.5" / 75 x 90mm.

1.8 ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 6-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

    LEE Filters S5LS reviews

    75 x 90mm Seven5 Little Stopper 1.8 Neutral Density Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from a landscape photography necessity I got the Seven5 system to use with my Fujifilm XT-1. The system is very easy to use. I purchased the Out Of Town filter set. It took me a few times using the Big Stopper that is included with the set that I actually had a mislabeled Little Stopper instead! I contacted B&H CS and since it was more than 30 days since my purchase they directed me to contact Lee Filters. I did that, instructed to return the filter and they quickly sent me out a Big Stopper and a hardbound book on using Lee Filters as a gift! I ordered this Little Stopper as I know there are times I don't need the ten stops of the Big and the six stops of the Little will be better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but... This 6 stop filter is a must for long exposures. As far as I can see, there are no colour casts of any sort. It comes packaged with an oversized carry pouch- probably made for Lee's larger format filters. I was disappointed to find that it did not include a soft Lee seven5 custom-fit fabric pouch, which other Lee seven5 filters came with. Just a minor quibble, but nevertheless it does reduce the overall experience of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic results, great when you want to preserve details I'm a big fan of this ND filter! I added this filter to my filter kit that includes the Lee Big Stopper which is fantastic, however sometimes you want to preserve some details, for example the texture in the water or in clouds. This is where the Little Stopper will help as it will still give you a shorter exposure and preserve some of those details. Another way I use this is to capture long exposures with boats in the distance. With the Big Stopper, boats in the background tend the blur or are not sharp as they are moving with the tide. With the Little Stopper, I can blur the waves in the foreground but still preserve the detail and sharpness of boats in the background as they are not moving as much relative to the foreground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Little Stopper Great product, reasonable price and if you're getting into long exposure photography then Lee's filters are a must.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Filter great, but system needs improvement I have a Fuji X-T1 and employ the Seven5 Lee Filters for long exposure. I have the Big and Little Stoppers along with several grad and the polarizing filter. The little stopper is great for shooting short long exposures to get minimal blur in clouds, water, etc. However, the overall Seven5 system needs a couple of improvements. First on the improvement list would be a filter holder that attaches to the lens ring more solidly. The connection surface area is so small that it is difficult to tell whether you have the filters solidly attached to the lens. I have actually dropped my filters several times, believing that they were properly attached when they weren't. I have been lucky so far, not scratching my very expensive filters, but it's only a matter of time. The second improvement would be to make an ND filter that has more neutral color impact. My Big Stopper definitely adds a blue tint. I can't remember whether the Little Stopper tints or not. Overall though, I'm very pleased with the system, but for the price, I expect perfection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems alright I bought this for an upcoming trip photographing Icebergs and Frozen Lakes...I've used the big stopper and the seas recommended as well...Tested it out and no shift in color...Like the rest of the Lee system it attaches easily and securely...I'm replacing my Cokin filter with this one and have seen much better results....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good filter, wish it was glass This is a great filter if you have a smaller camera or MILC and don't want the bulk of the Big Lee system. The optical quality seems high with no color cast introduced into the final photos. Would have preferred glass versus resin but they are cheaper than the Bigger Lee's.
