Samsung SNH-P6410 overview

  • 1Description

The SNH-P6410BN SmartCam Pro Indoor Wired/WiFi IP Camera from Samsung is a flexible and versatile camera that can be hard-wired to a router or connect wirelessly via WiFi. A 2MP CMOS progressive-scan sensor captures video with up to 1920 x 1080 resolution at 30 fps. Multiple recording options including, motion and audio-detection, continuous, and manual modes let you customize the surveillance and maximize your available memory. Files are saved to an on-board MicroSD/XC slot, and supports cards up to 64GB. To conserve bandwidth and to allow for multiple media streams, the camera uses the highly-efficient H.264 compression.

When coupled with the mobile app, the camera supports full 2-way audio communication with AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation) to increase the clarity of the conversation. Use the app, or most Internet browsers, to remotely access the camera for live-view, playback, or adjusting the camera settings. Take a snap-shot or capture a video clip and save them to your device. Choose to have email notifications when alarm events happen, have alarms pushed to your smartphone or tablet, and have images automatically uploaded to a Picasa account.

This camera can be used as a stand-alone surveillance camera, or a baby cam. When used as a baby cam, there are pre-programmed lullabies that can be used to soothe a restless infant.

    Samsung SNH-P6410 reviews

SNH-P6410BN SmartCam Pro Indoor Wired/WiFi IP Camera is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great security camera for on site video storage. I bought these for back up to a home security system. I wanted to be able to provide video recording for any events; but I did not want to have video stored on a server I had no control over. My wife was able to set these up and get them working very easily while I was away. The video quality is great, provided you have a good enough data or Wi-Fi connection. The sound capture seems to be good as well. The lens provides great coverage, allowing me to cover an entire room by mounting towards a corner. My only real complaints? I can't use a bigger micro SD card than 64GB and a much longer power cord would be preferable for mounting high.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from uy something else I could not be more disappointed with this purchase. The image quality is actually pretty good and the exterior housing is also pretty good but that is where the good ends. I bought two. The setup process took several tries for one camera and two tries for the other. The software is useless for anything other than viewing live video and even that can be hit or miss. Mine won't play back any recorded video...period. The SD card indicates data but no playback. The MAC software is awful, awful, awful. all sorts of unimplemented features and bugs galore. It also requires installation of some scary viewer software that requires an admin password. The iPhone app has 2 stars in iTunes and I can't imagine how it got them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast easy set up..... Out of the box easy to set up. Took approximately 20 min. To set up with home wifi system and iPhone, then spent the next 2 hours learning how to use it and playing/testing all the featuresReason to purchase this unit over the DROP cam is because of the internal memory (where as drop cam does not have an internal memory chip to save recorded files. one is force to pay an extra $ a month to access the cloud service to see recorded and save videos) all the other features are equal to and the same as the drop camHonestly no complaints so far Free apps to use can be found on line, no software required to downloadEmail notifications are free through Gmail (fast lest then 60 seconds)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect. This is an excellent surveillance camera. I read a lot of reviews before I bought it and the negative reviews about the app scared me a bit. Setting up the camera took me about 10 minutes overall. It was easy to set up and the app worked perfectly fine out of my home. The video has a 2 second delay which doesn't bother me. Your surveillance camera will work without a problem if you have a great home internet network and your cellphone provider has a reliable signal. It also depends on how high you set the resolution. I found that it works best when you're viewing your video on low or medium resolution, in which looks great for me. The reason I bought this is because I wanted to check on my dogs while I was away from my house for a few hours (found out who was the naughty one).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Device! but expensive I have two of these cameras and setup was extremely easy, the mobile app makes viewing remotely fun. Night vision atimes works perfectly but occasionally doesn't do too well. Only issue encountered was getting the right SD CARD compatible with it. And that's just because the manufacturer didn't give out the required spec of SD CARDS to be used so I bought several SD cards. The inability to copy video clips from the device remotely without unmounted the SD CARD is a let down. Everything else is fantastic. Great HD quality, Nice compression, good speakers. It's simply a good product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Camera I use the camera to monitor my 91 year old mother. I'm retired but work part time during the winter. Being able to keep an eye on her anywhere is a big relief! Caution! The retailer included a 32GB microSDHC for free. Not a good deal. The camera wouldn't accept the card with a insert additional card popup. I couldn't get to the next step, which was format. After going around and around with their customer service, I bought a 64GB microSDXC high endurance video monitoring card. Inserted the card, it accepted it, moved to format, and the rest took care of itself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wireless Setup is a breeze! The setup was quick and easy. The quality of the picture/video is also clear, and the ability to zoom in with the iPhone or iPad app greatly helps.I cannot give it a 5 for the following reasons:- The mounting plate that should allow the base to rotate easily does not work as well as it should. - The instructions for setting up the mic and speaker function is not very clear. I figured it out after trial and error.Recommendation to Samsung: Create the same quality of camera, but include the ability to rotate the camera to view a larger area.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great with its own app, DID NOT integrate with SmartThings These cameras work very well with their own SmartCam app software to help me monitor a 2nd home we own. However this the specific model camera that SmartThings says they are easily compatible with. But after a dozen attempts over several days I had zero success with trying to get the cameras recognized by my SmartThings hub. SmartThings support's suggestions did not fix it. The video quality is very good and the audio (to the limited extent I've tested it) is OK. Entirely satisfactory for a home monitoring application. One cautionary note - I set the SmartCam software up to notify me on motion detected by the cameras. Changing sunlight coming through the windows during the day and car headlights passing at night are both being picked up as 'motion' and I'm getting a lot of alerts. When I go back to the house I'm going to try re-pointing the cameras to see if I can cut down the alert traffic. Live SmartCam support was available on the weekend to help me get the cameras working with their own SmartCam app after integration with SmartThings failed during the week. I had to jump up and fly home Sunday afternoon, so Yeah SmartCam! for having weekend support. (They couldn't help me with SmartThings.) SmartThings only offers e-mail support 9 to 5 on weekdays, and live chat support that is advertised as available during those same hours never was. SmartThings said a recent firmware upgrade they pushed out may solve the camera integration problem. Really?, for a product that has been in the market this long? Seems like that sort of thing should have been rung out of the system long ago. In any case I won't have a chance to test that assertion until I return to the house again in 3 months. In the meantime, I'm ignoring all the alerts and am just logging in to the cameras once a day with the SmartCam app to check things out at the house, and within those bounds these cameras are serving me very well.
