Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 Overview

  • 1Description

The black, Fujifilm X mount Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens is a prime wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with APS-C sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 18mm and a broad 98.9° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery

    Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 Reviews

12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Fujifilm X Mount (Black) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 107.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very, very nice lens I use this for interior work, and I am very pleased with the image quality it delivers with my XE-1. Nice hard click stops, smooth focusing ring, quality build. Hood fits precisely, much better than my experiences with other 3rd party lens/hood combos. Nice and compact, lightweight. Love the f2.0!! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Rokinon MF lens. Only disappointments is really with XE-1 focus peaking, which is not nearly as strong as on Sony EVF cameras. Makes certain MF task a little more difficult, but this is not a lens issue. B&H service excellent as usual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Night Sky Excellence I purchased this lens to go along with my new Fuji X-T10, with a specific application in mind: Night sky photography. After the first couple of uses, I have not been disappointed. Fast, clear and wide, with light gathering ability that I have never owned before. It's also the first completely manual lens I have owned in, well, at least 20 years. At night it's easy, go to F2, focus on infinity and point up. During my brief time in the daylight with it, this lens has helped me (re)discover some of the knowledge that used to go into photography, made me THINK about set up and the shot itself. Overall a fantastic lens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible value if you can live with MF I am in love with this lens. I bought it specifically for a trip to Iceland to capture the landscapes and the northern lights. The large aperture is fantastic for night photography and astrophotography. The images are very sharp and the lens is surprisingly small for its wideness and brightness. However it still feels very sturdy and metallic. The only criticism is inherent in the lens in that its a manual focus. However due to its wide angle the focal depth is so large that manual focusing is not too difficult especially with focus peaking on the X cameras. I'd highly recommend the lens if you can deal with manual focusing and looking for great image quality for a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this lens again and probably some other Rokinons This lens is quite a great buy. The images I shot with it are sharp - even in the periphery - and color quality is excellent. I have enlarged the photos and they remained clear and sharp under the LH magnifying glass. The lens fits well on the Fujifilm X-T2 and because it is so wide angle, the lack of autofocus is really not an issue at all. I got the silver since it was about $70 less than the all black and to tell, the truth, I like the contrast with the black body, kind of unique. As always BH is prompt with shipping, right on with their representations of newness and packaging it great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good and inexpensive WA This is a very good wide angle lens for Fuji X. The corners and distortion are not as good as the Fuji 14mm but the Rokinon is considerably less expensive and is also wider, giving an 18mm equiv focal length compared to the 21mm for the Fuji 14mm. I don't find the corners objectionable in the Rokinon and the distortion is easily corrected in post processing. Also, the Rokinon is faster (and sharp at f/2) and has quite pleasing bokeh since it will let you focus close enough to get blurred backgrounds. The focus ring is quite stiff but I have gotten used to it. In all, I quite like this lens as my wide angle choice for Fuji X.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What a gem! Great wide angle lens for Fuji X mount! I recently took it on trip through the Narrows at Zion NP. I also packed the Fuji 10-24 just in case but that one stayed in the backpack during the trip. For such an inexpensive little lens, it produces fantastic crisp true color shots! Also, the short minimum focus distance is great for close ups and interesting perspective. Manual focus is not a problem at all, as I initially though this might be an issue. The only con that I have is the lens construction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just a great lens! I would say An amazing lens for the price but but it's just an amazing lens period. For shooting interiors in dim light or landscapes anytime, it's fantastic. The fast aperture makes a huge difference. This lens compares very favorably with the the Zeiss 12/2.8 for much less money - and this is a stop faster. This lens has slightly more CA than the Zeiss, but @ F 2.8 it's sharper and has less distortion. Manual focussing is fast and easy with most mirrorless cameras. If they put a chip in the lens to talk to the camera (to get the F stop recorded) I would go 5 stars in a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap and great I bought this lens to use with my xt1 in order to shoot the milkyway. I am not disappointed at all, the shot are really sharp and the quality construction seems really good as well. Just need to get use to manual focus but it's anyway the usual way to focus for astrophotography. The lens is affordable as well which is great for budget people like me

RE: Rokinon 12mm f 2.0 NCS CS lens for Fuji X mount.I've noticed that some of the lenses for Fuji X mount say alternate mount shown , but this one does not. Does it truly look like the picture on your website or is the barrel longer to accommodate the X mount of the Fuji cameras? Thanks,Paul
    Asked by: Anonymous
The Rokinon 12mm f 2.0 NCS CS lens for Fuji X mount is as pictured on our web site and Rokinons. Lenses such as the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 (for example) that are designed for use on a traditional DSLR body will have a longer base for mirrorless camera compatibility.

What's the procedure for using this lens with the Fujifilm X-E1? The lens instructions are inadequate.
    Asked by: Anonymous
You need to turn on shoot without lens . Camera thinks there is no lens attached, because not electronic connection.

I bought this lens for my XT-1 and I can't seem to shoot with it. Everything is on manual but when I click the shoot button nothing happens. How do I fix this?
    Asked by: Anonymous
You have to set your XT1 camera to the no lens option, otherwise it will think that it is using a lens that has all the electronic contacts that Fuji X lenses have. Not finding any of these contacts it will not work.

Is this lens manual focus and manual aperture setting when used with a Fujifilm XE-2 camera?
    Asked by: Anonymous
I use it on the Fuji X-t1 and it is only manual focus and manual aperture. However for my use which is mostly landscape and Long Exposure its very good

Is it just mine or is the rear lens cap really loose on all of these lenses? Its only a matter of time time before it gets lost.
    Asked by: Andrew G.
Same here, I got used to it and therefore not lost it yet. Still love the lens though, great value, I wish it was weather resistant..

Does anyone know a third party BAYONET style lens hood that will not vignette with this lens?
    Asked by: Chuck N.
I find that the Rokinon hood is not a very tight fit and I accidentally get it turned a bit and I sometimes get vignetting then. Just make sure it is on straight and then check again.

Does the box the lens comes in contains a silica gel bag?
    Asked by: Ed S.
I don't recall. I still have the box with its foam lens protection and the plastic bag. If there was a silica gel packet, I discarded it.
