Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 Reviews

Doesn't work

I purchased a Rokinon lens previously for my Canon 5D MKIII it worked great. I purchased this lens for my Fuji XT4 expecting the same quality, I made the mistake of not testing it out when I recieved it, when I finally went to use it, it will not work at all! I cannot get the shutter to click with this lens . Now it's too late to return, so this was a complete waste of money!

It's a cheap lens cheaply built, but the price and performance are good, so the universe is in balance. I love mine.

Great bang for buck

While it does distort a bit on the edges, not any more than would be expected. I love having this tiny lense for real estate projects, or when simply filming in really tight spaces and you need to make it look bigger. A great addition to any kit. The manual focus is especially easy to manage when paired with a focus wheel on a gimbal.

Rokinon 12mm is great

It's a great lens. No autofocus, but camera's focus peaking options make it more than possible. One problem when getting comfortable with focus peaking is, since lens is only manual, all practice, including aperture setting is not kept, so you can't go back to photo editing software snd see what settings were used in your good shots. This problem is not unique to this lens. It's a pretty inexpensive lens, and much cheaper in silver Vs black.

A Sharp Fast Lens

The Rokinon 12 mm surprised me with its look and feel. It was more solid and well designed than I anticipated and I'm confident it will stand up to a lot of abuse. So far, I've been very pleased with how it shoots, though I'm not the best at manual lenses. Excellent bokeh when wide open. I will note that the focusing ring is inaccurate. Focusing at infinity occurs at the beginning of the upticked line to the left of the infinity symbol, just a tad to the left of where the indicator is shown on the stock photo. Be careful to find your infinity focus point and remember or mark it on your lens so that you don't miss great landscape shots! I plan to make this my primary landscape and astrophotography lens. The attached low-res screenshot is from my first test run with the lens.

question

RE: Rokinon 12mm f 2.0 NCS CS lens for Fuji X mount.I've noticed that some of the lenses for Fuji X mount say alternate mount shown , but this one does not. Does it truly look like the picture on your website or is the barrel longer to accommodate the X mount of the Fuji cameras? Thanks,Paul
Asked by: Anonymous
The Rokinon 12mm f 2.0 NCS CS lens for Fuji X mount is as pictured on our web site and Rokinons. Lenses such as the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 (for example) that are designed for use on a traditional DSLR body will have a longer base for mirrorless camera compatibility.

What's the procedure for using this lens with the Fujifilm X-E1? The lens instructions are inadequate.
Asked by: Anonymous
You need to turn on shoot without lens . Camera thinks there is no lens attached, because not electronic connection.

This particular lens is designed to fit the Canon EOS M and will not be compatible with the Canon 50D. Check out the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 for Canon: http://bhpho.to/1cZKUkX

question

Would this lens work with the SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter?
Asked by: derek
No, sorry, the focal length is too short. Depending on the sensor of the camera you are using, 35mm or 50mm will be the correct choices.

question

When using this lens, I get black corners in my pictures, it looks like I am looking thru a tube, is there something wrong with lens, or am I doing something wrong? The viewfinder also shows this black distortion.
Asked by: Moses
Sony makes both APS-C and full frame cameras that use the Sony E-Mount. If you are using an APS-C camera and see black corners, something may be wrong and you might want to get it serviced. If you are using it on a full-frame camera then you bought the wrong lens for your camera. The primary symptom of using this lens on a full-frame camera would be vignetting, a darkening of edges and especially dark corners.
