    Cullmann TB6.6 reviews

TITAN TB6.6 Ball Head is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This ball head deserves your attention. I'll be frank, I had purchased this ball head from another source, but frequent B&H on a regular basis and wanted to share my experience with this equipment with its loyal customers. I'm a serious ameture photographer in Northern California. I just purchased my first serious long telephoto lens and was horrified by my technique and results. One of the things that became obvious is that my very inexpensive ball head was not going to cut it. I also wanted the extra protection of a good friction control for my expensive glass. I had used a FLM head before and was astonished by the outstanding workmanship, materials and design. I wanted one myself and was a day or two from pulling the trigger on the cb-43 ft. By chance I ran into this cullman on an auction site for an outrageous price due to an open box sale. It looked fantastic, was german designed and manufactured and was so darned affordable. I did some research (there wasn't many out there for reviews) but what I did find was all very positive. I pulled the trigger. First of all, if you register the ball with Cullman, you receive a 20 year warranty. Secondly, the materials, finish and workmanship was amazing. The feel of this ball is amazing. I immediately put it on my Feisol tripod, did a rough friction setting and then put my 300mm on it with body. It was heaven. The pan was smooth and precise with a large knob that gives you the resolution to set the drag you want on the panning motion. I then balance and set the friction on the main knob's friction control. Now, Cullman puts a separate knob in the middle of the main knob click stop detents for your friction setting ... it's resolution is very good as well and you can get pretty precise with it's setting as well. Once set where you are comfortable, locking the ball with the main knob is less than a full turn and it requires no cranking down or muscling it fully locked. A simple turn and the ball is fully locked. The quick release is screw type, Arca compatible and when you lock it, both sides of the mount move towards the plate centering the plate on the head as it locks. It works wonderfully and effortlessly. It's a tall head, but narrow for a head of this holding power. As I said in the headline, this ball head deserves a close look for someone in the market for a seriously well made, beautifully finished and capable piece of equipment. Here at B&H you will find the best price available for this head new, and unopened.
