The NVW-250 Dual Radio High Power WiFi Access Point and Bridging Unit in Road Case from Datavideo features two radios: a main backhaul radio and an access point radio, providing a WiFi access using 2.4 and 5 Ghz frequency bands. This access point and bridging unit is designed to be used with video encoders and decoders to transmit a video signal point to point and to connect from remote locations or transmit globally over the internet. It can also be used to remotely control PTZ cameras and transmit video. With cameras offering wireless and network functionality, the NVW-250 bridge unit can extend the usually poor range of these to useful distances. The NVW-250 features a second WiFi radio allowing both long-range connectivity to another NVW-250 or NVW-150 unit as well as local connection of any devices via WiFi (up to 100m) or via Ethernet. This allows users to use iPads or laptops to connect in addition to the long-range network cable like connection.
The NVW-250 design allows one radio to be used for a long-range link between two bridging units and the other radio for local device access. This system allows the bridging units to be static while the devices at each end can roam freely within the local hotspots range; this allows high gain directional antennas to be used for the backhaul without affecting the free roaming of your devices. Alternatively the secondary local radio can be used to connect to another bridging unit extending range further.
Built into a ruggedized water resistant case the unit can be powered from any V-mount battery (not included) or be powered over Ethernet. Each unit comes complete with two 5dBi omni-directional antennas for the main backhaul radio and two 5dBi antennas for the secondary radio. Externally mountable directional antennas are available for longer range links (sold separately).
A built in LED signal strength indicator allows you to remain within range, while the unit will automatically adjust transmission rates and channel numbers based on current link conditions. The NVW-250 uses completely unlicensed 5Ghz bands and complies with IEEE802.11d global standards for license free operation worldwide, offering transmission speeds of up to 300Mbps and ranges up to 0.5km (standard antennae) and 10km (external antenna and height dependent) while staying below the UKs 30 dBm EIRP power limit.
In addition to the standard point to point mode, the NVW-250 supports point to multipoint mode allowing you to connect multiple bridge units together. In this mode, the unit can act as a high-powered wireless router and the Ethernet port becomes the WAN port.
Ideal for covering larger distances, directional antennas can be used to connect bridging units while the local access point still allows free Omni-directional roaming at each end
Supports transmission distances greater than 500m with standard antennae
Automatically avoids interference
Dual V-mount battery slots for extended battery life
Regulated 12V 5A XLR power output for powering external devices
