OWC / Other World Computing OWCSSD7E6G120 reviews

120GB Mercury Electra 6G 2.5" Internal SSD is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Mac Pro Upgrade I've only had this SSD installed in my Mac Pro Tower for a few days, but already I love it. I can shut down and restart in 32 seconds (timed it with a stopwatch!). The SSD was installed in the second optical bay, connected to the motherboard and power supply with a tangle of cables, which required a fair amount of disassembly of my Mac Pro (maybe 30 minutes of work). That's my only (minor) complaint and it's got nothing to do with the drive itself. I just installed the operating system and applications on this, and altogether they take up less than 20 GB of space, leaving plenty of room for OS X's virtual memory. Photoshop and other programs start up very quickly. I have all my data and images on SATA hard drives installed in the regular drive bays. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't upgrade those to SSDs as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good hard drives. Not for atomos I have two of these Electra drives in my mac book home. I bought a few more to use in my atomos ninja. It lists the Mercury extremes as compatible drives, so I figured the Mercury elctras would be the same, since they are so similar. Nope. The pins on the electras are a little to short to function the the atomos drive caddy. Had to exchange them for more expensive versions with the same specs. Lame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and furious Even though this drive is made for Mac, it works very well on PC. Instead of waiting for two minutes for the system to load completely, its just 30 seconds. What an improvement !!! Even a 8-10 year old laptop can profit from this fast drive and make it usable again. Like Spock would say: fascinating! I am definitely gonna order another drive for my other laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The easiest way to boost your Mac's speed While there are many SSD's on the market, the OWC line of drives are special because they offer a no-fuss way to give your Mac the speed of a solid state drive. What makes the OWC SSD's different is it doesn't need TRIM support, meaning you don't have to use a workaround to get the best performance from this drive like you would another brand SSD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far sooo Good Great SSD! I just received it today with enclosure and installed OSX via USB3.0. I made it as my primary drive and installed apps to it. Opening the applications is super fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I've used OWC SSDs before, and I bought another one to replace a Sandisk SSD that died after 4 years. Unlike other brands, 120GB is actually 120GB of usable space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast SSD Drive Fast drive that maximizes an old MBP. Fast start up time and solid reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast So far so good, using as a scratch disk and works great.
