Leica Summicron-T 23mm f/2 ASPH. Reviews
Great lens
Bought this lens for my CL to compliment the 18-56 vario- elemar lens. The autofocus is fast accurate and you get the Leica sharpness and color that you expect. This is a first rate lens.
Excellent for the CL
Light, unobtrusive - perfect walk-around, street photography (35mm equivalent) lens for the easy to carry Leica CL. I have theM10 but aging eyes are making it harder to gain a quick focus - so I am enjoying this auto-focus camera and lens.
Leica Quality
Great lens match up for the TL2
Addendum to my earlier review
I have now had further time to really put the Summicron-TL 23 f2 through its paces. Using it on my CL, I can confidently state that it easily competes with the Summicron-M 35 f2 ASPH on my full-frame SL. Which is to say that at an equivalent angle of view, I see no superiority of the M over the TL. That is a very high standard, to say the least. And given the advantage of autofocus on the CL, I think that the TL lens is a better option overall. The M-35 has a slightly greater effective maximum aperture (f2 vs f3), because of the SL's larger sensor, but that is something that I can easily live with.
I love it.
I just got the Summicron-TL 23mm for use on my CL. The camera-lens combination is compact, lightweight and well balanced. The lens produces excellent IQ. It is very sharp in the center wide open and is sharp across the frame by f 5.6. Bokeh is superb, which is quite an achievement for a lens of this focal length. AF is quick enough, though not lightning fast. The Summicron 23 is not quite as stellar as the amazing Summilux-TL 35, but it is a very fine lens nonetheless. Highly recommended.
