Great legs, with some issues...We have a Sachtler FS8 setup we've used for years, but were looking for something a bit more beefy for our fully kitted out FS7. For the price this isn't a bad setup. Definitely better than anything Manfrotto makes at this price point. The carbon legs are great, but the ground spreader is garbage. When you fold the tripod, the spreader has a tendency to flop over and get tangled up in the rubber loops that hold it in place. The mid-level spreader (which isn't included), improves the functionality considerably. The head is the biggest issue here. It says, it will support 22lbs, which it might, but there isn't nearly enough drag for even a 5 or 6lb setup. A small DSLR rig is about the best this will handle effectively. It's hard to get a good balance between drag and spring tension as well - it's constantly tilting down. That said, compared to the Manfrotto 519 - this setup is significantly better. But, if you want something that will support a kitted out FS7, you're going to have to save a few more grand and buy a 'real' head instead.

Overpriced With an Exaggerated Value.Let's start with the good. The carbon fiber legs are great. They feel solid and the mono-lock design makes it easy and quick to set up. The ground-level spreader feels cheap and is kind of flimsy. It has a bad tendency flop up in the middle when adjusting the legs. The mid-level spreader and rubber feet are non-existent. How can you trust a company that will tell you a product has something that it doesn't? (Ikan's fault) Lastly, the head really just isn't as good as it makes itself out to be. The handle feels nice and the build quality seems to be good on the head, but there are some issues. The smallest and not so important issue starts with the illuminating bubble. It's unresponsive and wasn't working at all until I removed the batteries and reinstalled them. It tends to not work unless you hold the button and only maintains a short timer. It will not stay on by holding it. (Could be standard, but this was disappointing.) Now to the important issues. Balancing is difficult at best, the plate is small and there does not seem to be any compatible long plates available. The head slightly dips downward on the front-end and I can only make it stay even by locking the tilt. Doesn't seem reliable for heavy setups in that regard. The counterbalance seems to work okay, but both the tilt and pan are rather weak even at the highest setting. This would be great for smaller setups, but it defeats the purpose of having a 22lb. counterbalance if the drag isn't strong to operate the weight smoothly. The customer service is terrible. People occasionally have bad experiences with any company, but this is truly poor. It took 5 days of ridiculous questions and me detailing every specific part of the kit from manufacturer's website for their customer service to realize that the 3 rubber feet are not the same thing as the feet jointed into the ground-level spreader. I returned my kit and received a full refund. Thank you B&H for the great, quality customer service, unlike Ikan.
