Kawai MP-7 overview

  • 1Description

The MP7 from Kawai is an 88-key stage piano with weighted action, hundreds of sounds, and provides real-time control over a multitude of parameters. Over 250 onboard sounds are separated into eight distinctive categories - piano, electric piano, drawbar, organ, strings/vocal, brass/wind, pad/synth, and bass/guitar. Each sound category features eight sub-categories, with a further four tonal variations for each. The "Virtual Technician" functions allows the user to dig down and set up the instrument to taste.

Variety of concert, jazz, and pop grand pianos, and a full-bodied traditional upright, appropriately voiced and mic'd for a broad range of musical styles
Responsive Hammer II keyboard action recreates the touch of an acoustic grand piano, with realistic movement providing a smooth, natural playing experience
Triple-sensor key detection, ivory-like surfaces and authentic let-off simulation ensure the instrument performs like a real piano
Authentic tine, reed, and modern electric pianos, clavs, and an electric grand, all sampled to preserve their characteristics and imperfections
Internal audio processor delivers high-resolution effects including modeled resonances for adding to acoustic piano sounds, analog style amplifier simulations to warm-up electric pianos, and reverbs to recreate distinctive environments
Tonewheel organ simulation, complete with nine, real-time adjustable drawbars, authentic percussion controls, and vintage chorus/vibrato settings
Four independently configurable zones for controlling internal sounds, external MIDI devices, or both simultaneously
Hardware level faders provide immediate control over multi-voice layers, while split functionality allows any zone to be assigned to a custom key range
Studio quality strings, pads, basses, and other essential sounds suitable for creating splits, layering with acoustic pianos and EPs, or for simply playing solo
Accessible and well-organized intuitive panel features a large graphic LCD display and four assignable real-time control knobs
Store and recall every customized sound, knob position, fader level, and adjustable parameter at the touch of a button, to over 250 setup memories
Sturdy aluminum and steel chassis, with a reinforced base
Elegantly finished wooden side panels, sleek gloss-black paintwork, and a raised fallboard
