This adapter is to allow a mic with a 3.5mm TRS end to go into a smartphone. The Rode SC3, is the opposite, so it would take a TRRS mic, such as the Rode SmartLav+, and allow you to connect it to a camera or audio recorder, with a TRS 3.5mm mic input.

An XLR to 1/8 TRS cable will work with this adapter to input to your iPad, however since the Zoom F8 outputs line level by default, you will need to switch the recorder to output at mic level which is required for input to the iPad. This is available via the Output Level settings in the F8's menu. To run a cable longer distances, (+10 ft) an XLR cable would be recommended to run the length and a female XLR to TRRS adapter is also available.

You need both then your good to go. Took me a while to figure it out too. But this works fine. I just leave them plugged into my Rode all the time so I can find them when I want to shoot.

I saw this way youtube to be best because if you plug into your phone using the lighting port, what happens (and I have an iphone 8 plus) is that it sometimes enables Siri and doesn't record audio at all. The SC4 is a 3.5mm microphone adapter cable for smartphones. The Canon t5 does not support external mic connection.

Upon looking at the Element 88, we notice there are no RCA outputs on the unit. You may be referring to the 1/4'' outputs on the back of the unit. If this is correct, and the cabling is as you suggested with 1/4'' outputs from the ALT out, then technically signal should pass. You may need to look at your DAW outputs and ensure you are sending signal to the ALT outputs and not just the mains. An alternative to that many adapters would be this cable, used from the 1/4'' outputs, and connected right the the Apple lightning to headphone adapter BH #SEIPSUMTS3.
