Bescor FP Series Battery Pack Overview

This Bescor 12V Li-Ion Battery Kit includes the FP-12V belt clip battery with a 4-pin XLR connector for powering professional video equipment such as select LED Lights and ENG cameras.

The battery is housed in a pouch that features a military-style belt clip for attachment around your waist. The XLR connector extends from the pouch on an integrated 3' cable. Also included is an XLR-to-car lighter adapter for using the light to power select LED lights and other equipment with standard 12V car lighter power input sockets. The kit also includes a 110 to 240 VAC wall outlet charger with an XLR input.

The battery operates between 11.1 and 12.6 VDC, and it features a 98Wh capacity. It charges in approximately four hours and is rated for over 500 charge cycles. It does not suffer from memory effect. The charger provides an output of 12.6V and 2500mAh. It features a red/green charge indicator.

Good batteries brought down by garbage chargers

This product is brought down by chargers that are defective in two major ways. 1. They fail. Two out of the three I bought have failed. And you won't know they've failed until it's too late and you look like an unprofessional moron on a shoot because of number 2 below. 2. They indicate that the battery is charged even when the charger isn't connected to the battery. One of my chargers had a bad connector, but showed a green light (meaning the battery was full) when the battery wasn't even connected to the charger. One of my chargers also just fell apart... literally broke in half upon being picked up. Now it's packing-taped together. To compound the problem, there is no record of this thing anywhere on the Internet. Search for STB168020 to try to find a replacement. Good luck.

Great solution for my HVR-S270 Camera

I bought these as a cheaper alternative to the expensive Sony V mount batteries. These power a shoulder mount style camera for several hours. Very light and charges in less than 2 hours.

I use it to power portable radios. It is nice and compact, and supplies a good amount of power. It is best used for walking as the belt clip is likely not sturdy enough for vigorous hiking. I would put in one of the backpack pockets for rigorous activity.

Runs a Sachtler 50 watt light or a LCD Monitor. I clip it to a utility belt that I bought separately. Seems to run my 50 watt light for about 40 minutes ... maybe a bit more. Extremely light weight .. enough that I can wear 2 or 3 on a belt and not really be bothersome. A great value.. I will be ordering more soon.

Would buy another, without question.

Will this power a Sony HVR-S270? I'm not sure if I can use a 12V battery for the 270 or if it has to be a 14.4V.

This battery may work with the Sony HVR-S270, however with the output being lower than the camera's needs I would not recommend it. For another solution IndiPRO tools has an inexpensive V-Mount Battery and Charger kit that you can use directly on the camera. This will work and it will be a bit more convenient to set up.

This unit will work for it uses the same power connector as the recorder and it can also power FP batteries.

Can't really tell you how many hours it last, but I've used it (fully charged) for about 5 hours with BMCC with no problems at all, and still had battery to shoot more.

It's hard to say with out knowing the power requirements of your specific light. The Bescor 12V Li-Ion Battery Kit for ENG Cameras and LED Lights outputs 12V via the 4-Pin XLR, so if your light can run off of a 12V power supply this kit would work.
