Manfrotto Bug-203 overview

  • 1Description

The Manfrotto Bug-203 PL Pro-Light Camera Backpack is designed to carry and protect a pro DSLR camera body with up to a 300mm lens attached, 4-5 additional lenses, a flash and accessories. It can also carry a 15.4" laptop in its dedicated padded laptop sleeve.

A unique design and access pocket allow you to rotate the backpack to your front and get to your camera without removing the bag from your body. The front of the bag unzips to reveal the main compartment and its modular Camera Protection System (CPS). The CPS is made from three layers to provide maximum protection: a brushed-fabric exterior, a shock-absorbing foam, and a structural reinforcement board. The CPS's design concentrates its protection in the center of the bag, where it is needed the most.

The Pro-Light Bug-203 PL has front zippered access to the main compartment holding the camera gear. There is a rear padded laptop compartment with a divider and bottom pad that will hold a computer with a screen up 15.4". It has zippered pockets on the front flap that can hold accessories such as cables, chargers, and other small gear. There are multiple flat external pockets, and interior mesh pockets for holding memory cards, or similar sized accessories. There is a tripod sling which can be attached to either the front or the side of the backpack. A double-sided rain cover is included for protection in rain or sunshine.

A detachable pocket and straps on the side and front of the bag can each be used to hold a tripod or monopod.
Flexi dividers have the option to fold out of the way when needed, or to be pulled out to protect your equipment.
A rain protector is included to help keep your gear dry. One side of it is silver to deflect direct sunshine and help prevent your gear from overheating.
A sleeve on the back of the pack slides over a trolley handle so you can pull the pack along with your luggage.
A sternum strap and a waist belt provide additional support for heavy loads.
The shoulder straps stow away into a compartment on the back of the bag for easier use with a trolley handle.
A specially applied coating to the fabric keeps it resistant to moisture.

    Manfrotto Bug-203 reviews

Bug-203 PL Pro-Light Camera Backpack is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Really Like This Bag I was replacing a bag from another manufacturer when I bought this bag. I talked to the salesman at B&H and told him what I wanted to do. One of the things that impressed me about this bag was the idea of compacting much of my gear when I travel. Something else that caught my attention was the fact that it had a trolley sleeve on it. Try as I might, I was not able to find one from the manufacturer but I did find a trolley that works great at a Big Box Store. I am able to put my tripod bag with my tripod and monopod in it and the bag even has a pocket to hold a water bottle. My back and my patience have been thanking me since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Quality and lightweight too I can't impart just how much I love this bag. I've had many bags in the past, some from all the major manufacturers, but this is the nicest, most stylish, and lightest weight bag I've ever owned. It's nicely designed, lots of padding, and it has a reinforcement in the front and in the back that adds a lot of protection to your gear. It can hold a lot of gear - I usually truck around with a dslr. three lenses, battery grip, and accessories including laptop. When I have to shoot video I also pack in mics, batteries, tascam recorder and more cables. It's a little tight but very manageable. If you're worried about space Manfrotto makes a larger lightweight bag but it's huge. The Bug is a very nice size. The only con I have with this bag is the attachment on the front for a tripod. There is too much give on the fabric, so no matter how tight you attach the tripod with the straps it still sways to much, which is a real problem in the subway, maybe not so bad if you're hiking. It comes with movable dividers (although I wish there were more than just the 5, which is probably plenty for most people) a nice lens pillow, a reversible rain cover/sun reflector, and a tripod pouch with straps. I've had this bag for over a month and I really love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Manfrotto Backpack Holds all my Canon gear 5D & 6D 20-30-, 28-70, 70-200 plus a Leica Telyt 280 APO, 2 Extenders and most importantly my 15 MacBook Pro, thus eliminating one carryon for air travel. It is comfortable to carry and comes with a tripod carrying facility as well as adequate pockets for accessories-filters, flash drives and the like. Overall, ideal for travel and landscape photography.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent ergonomics Carry on and day pack. Padding is sturdy and customizable. Fits under airline seats (tho I haven't tried that yet. I think you have to put your feet in overhead?) Shoulder harness is very comfortable. Has an ample well padded laptop compartment between harness and camera compartment. I think it should have more pockets for cables, lens caps, batteries, etc.
