Ubiquiti Networks TS-8-PRO overview

  • 1Description

The TS-8-PRO EdgeSwitch XP 8-Port Advanced PoE Controller from Ubiquiti Networks is an industrial-strength, 8-port Gigabit switch with 150W power capability for powering 24V or 48V devices. The output voltage is controlled by the software. It delivers reliable passive PoE and fast 10/100/1000 Mb/s connectivity to attached Ubiquiti devices and other devices that support passive PoE. To connect the PoE devices, you need to enable PoE in the EdgeSwitch XP configuration interface. Each port can be individually configured to provide PoE, so that both PoE and non-PoE devices can be connected.

Simplify Deployment
It allows network architects to design cleaner, less cluttered deployments. For example, integrating one EdgeSwitch XP PRO can eliminate the need of eight PoE adapters, eight power cords, eight power outlets, and eight Ethernet patch cables. The EdgeSwitch XP deployments increase efficiency and reduce the potential failure points, resulting in faster installations and less maintenance and troubleshooting
Intuitive Configuration Interface
The EdgeSwitch XP PoE provides a user-friendly configuration interface for efficient setup and control. Accessed via a secured management port and Web browser, the EdgeSwitch XP configuration interface provides intuitive management with a virtual view of the ports, showing physical connectivity, speed, and PoE status

    Ubiquiti Networks TS-8-PRO reviews

TS-8-PRO TOUGHSwitch Pro 8-Port Advanced PoE Controller is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No tech support, poor customer support. I purchased 2 Toughswitch Pro's in March based on ratings I had read. I had some experience already with the Unifi Pro access points and liked what I experienced with setup. Up until now I had not experienced any difficulties, however, I had 2 switches go bad and when I attempted to gain tech support I found none. I obtained an RMA and paid to have the bad switches back to Ubiquiti. About 2 weeks later 2 replacement switches arrived. Upon installation I found one of the replacement switches was bad. Again I am back in the RAM loop and expected to pay for return shipping. I still have not be able to determine how to reach someone with technical support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great POE switch. Pros: Management interface is user friendly. Many features available, such as VLAN, etc... POE flexibility with 24v and 48v settings for each port. Solid design. Cons: No mounting points/brackets for wall mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Actually seems to be built heavy duty Seems to be pretty heavy duty. It is a pretty heavy switch and the shell is well made. Actually has nine ports but only 8 can be powered the first or extra port is for management. During setup I didn't read the directions so I wasted a little time since the POE power is off by default but after figuring it out I don't have any complaints. I use it with three cameras and a ceiling access point and haven't had any issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ToughSwitch Pro Hefty metal case with plenty of air holes for cooling. The web interface shows how much data is being transmitted and received. Very nice for knowing how much bandwidth all those cameras are using. I've had a FLIR fixed camera powered for several days for testing; all looks good. This switch will not power an Axis PTZ that needs more than 48V like the P5624-E. You only get the web interface but no video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough little POE switch Really lives up to its name and works like a charm. I've been running three of these in remote closets at our organization and haven't had a single blip in almost a year. I'm powering UBNT cameras and access points with them. The only downside is that they are not manageable in UNIFY with my UNIFY switches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 24/48V switch. Will buy again. Great switch! Will do 24V or 48V in management. Makes it so simple to add devices to a network without having to use the power bricks that come with each UBNT device. This way you can use one UPS to run everything also. Easy setup using web interface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for small office of remote switching We use a lot of these ToughSwitches in harsh environments. For example 2 of these were just deployed to a warehouse environment in Arizona. Summer temps above 110* but these switched don't mind. Perfect for mixed PoE. They will do 24v of 48v output.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little switch Nice 24 & 48V PoE options, good management interface. Perfect to eliminate power bricks and extra cables. It's a little pricey compared to a Netonix but very solid.
