    Ubiquiti Networks ERPOE-5 reviews

ERPOE-5 EdgeRouter PoE 5-Port Advanced Network Router is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal value, extreme performer For a small office or wired home, I cannot recommend this router strongly enough. The performance and flexibility are simply unmatched, and the featureset continues to improve with every firmware update. These routers are increasingly user-friendly, although I would probably not recommend it for anyone without some familiarity with networking, and the command line. The GUI continues to improve, but the command line interface gives you access a lot more features and capabilities. This router punches well above its' weight. It is probably the best investment I have made in my home network since I switched my APs over to Unifi. Well done, Ubiquiti.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NO DROPS! I had the Edge Router Lite before and it lasted almost a year with zero drops tell it died. I upgraded to this model and so for it has performed just as good with zero drops. I think the other one was a freak thing that it died so I had no fear in buying this model as I have never had anything that preformed as well. I will say the have upgraded the GUI a lot since my last model as the setup only took minutes vs the first one were I had to dig into forums to get going but now it's easy and you still have all the capabilities that a hard core geek would look for. I also have it paired with the UNFI access point and the adoption process was much easier than in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional quality at SoHo price This router is fantastic. It's very configurable for a variety of network topologies. It supports PoE for those applications that require devices that do not have access to a power plug but do support PoE. The Ubiquiti support forums are a great resource for various setup advice and samples. Highly recommended for environments that require a bit more complex setup than what a Linksys or Netgear router can offer. Note, this router does require some setup. Do not expect it to work like a Linksys right out of the box. You will need to spend some time to get a SoHo router like setup enabled. It's not a lot of time, perhaps 30 minutes. If you spend some time reading the support forums and example setups prior to receiving the router, this will make things move very quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Router - Not for the novice Replaced an old Cisco ASA 5505 with this router connected to a Comcast modem with Bridge Mode enabled. The new wizard they have is very good. The trick, which is not obvious, is that the ERPOE-5 must be powered up and ready when the Comcast modem is powered up. If the ERPOE-5 loses power but the Comcast modem doesn't or the Comcast modem is powered up after power loss before the router the connection will not be made between the two and there is no simple way to tell why the internet connection is not working. This can be particularly hard to realize when doing the initial setup. Same issue occurs with the Cisco ASA 5505 so it is clearly a quirk in the Comcast gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent professional-grade router at consumer-grade price! This router is an excellent professional-grade router for the price! Yes, it is more complicated than your consumer-grade routers. However, it is very flexible in how you can can configure it. The performance is definitely there! The GUI has wizards to get you up and on your way. Later, you can use the GUI or the CLI to fine-tune your settings. There are tons of documentation out there on this router. Though, once you get it up and running, you won't have to bother with it much. It just works. The wizards don't show up until firmware V1.9.0. So, before you do anything, upgrade to the latest firmware, first. Mine came with V1.2.0. If you get an error while upgrading the firmware, try powering off the router and inserting a paperclip into the reset hole while powering the router back on. When the router comes back up, try again. That worked for me. Technical support is great. I opened a ticket with some questions and they responded right away. And, this was 10 O'Clock at night! I highly recommend this router. You're getting professional-grade equipment at consumer price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Router This router works great and is easy to set up through the GUI. This is my primary router for my house. This router came with the 48v Power Supply, so I was able to power my access point without any additional equipment. You need to know some Linux and use the CLI for more advanced features

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Commercial-grade quality at consumer-grade price If you are tired of the poor quality or lack of features that consumer-grade routers have, this unit is for you. This router may not be as easy to use as consumer-grade products. But, it does have lots of features and power. This unit is great for power users and small businesses. Before it arrives, make sure to read the Quick Start Guide and Users Manual. Most importantly, make sure you update the router to the latest firmware before you configure it. The latest version comes packed with wizards that will quickly get you up and running. Setting up is pretty easy. The wizards get you on your way in a short amount of time. If you want, you can use the CLI to fine-tune your settings. There's even a wizard to set your router up for load balancing, if you're lucky to have a redundant internet connection. The router is packed with lots of features. For example, you can make the Ethernet ports look like a switch or as independent router ports on their own subnet and having their own DHCP server. The router does not bog down my internet connection at all. We have 50/10 that bursts to 60/13. There is also a dashboard that gives you interesting stats and information. Technical support is very helpful. I had a few questions and they got back to me right away. Once you get this router up and running, you won't deal with it much. It's pretty reliable. I highly recommend this router.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Missing the mark. Great little box, excelent form factor to install on a wall but missing informational light like ACT, VPN, PPP...I am on a Bell Fibre (not fibe) 1Gb and I can do 900Mbps downloads with 10 firewall rules attached to my WAN interface. I also run 1 VPN tunnel to work and I could never go over 15Mbps which I consider very poor performance.Overall, had to go out and buy a used CheckPoint 1000N*
