The LTO Ultrium 5 Data Cartridge from Maxell features a patented ceramic, armor particle tape and high-rigidity PEN base film for accurate recording and reliable archival storage. It is designed for data storage and archival purposes and can store data up to 3TB with a transfer rate of up to 280 MB/s (compressed).

It features Maxell's Neo Super Maximum capacity Advanced Reliability Tape technology platform (NeoSMART) that ensures high reliability in data storage and recovery. The improved magnetic particles, advanced coating and dispersion technologies, advanced cartridge shell design, and the other components of the NeoSMART platform allow for a storage capacity of up to 3TB.

Maxell's proprietary ceramic coating process acts as a protective armor for the metal particles in the magnetic layer of the tape to guard the cartridge against heat, humidity, abrasion, and oxidation.
