Meopta 562540 overview

  • 1Description

The MeoPro 8x42 HD Binocular from Meopta is a high performance binocular that features HD extra-low dispersion fluorite objective lenses that are designed to eliminate chromatic aberrations and deliver increased resolution, contrast, and color fidelity. The objective and eyepiece lenses are armed with the proprietary MeoBright ion-assisted multicoating that serves to reduce glare and reflections and allows a 99.8% light transmission per lens surface. A MeoShield coating helps protect the lenses from abrasion.

At 8x magnification, these binoculars are ideal for birding and other observations in nature. A generous 384' field of view (at 1000 yards) makes these binoculars an excellent choice for dynamic observations or observing in tightly forested terrain.

The roof prism chassis consists of rubber armored lightweight magnesium with an ergonomic shape. The binoculars are hand-built in the USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Binocular I wasn't sure if I wanted a 10x or 8x, I currently own a 10x36 and I thought I wanted to stay with 10, more magnification is better right, I was wrong once I started doing some research and experimenting. I use binos for deer hunting mostly, in south Louisiana. I actually ordered both the 10 and 8x in the Meopro 42mm and I also ordered a Zeiss Conquest 8x42. In comparison between the 10 and 8 Meopro the 8 won in a landslide. The 10's actually would hurt my eyes, most likely because I don't have real far reaching places to see in the application i was using them for. They had a smaller exit pupil and when I compared them at dusk the 8's were much brighter with the bigger exit pupil, I'm so glad I learned about this critical fact as that is the main factor in hunting deer. 8x binoculars really have the advantage in 10x as they are less shakey, more field of view, and a bigger exit pupil allowing to see at dusk and dawn significantly brighter. So then came the comparison between the Meopro 8x42 vs the Zeiss 8x42 Conquest. Zeiss did have the advantage on the glass and coatings , giving a brighter slightly more vivid detail and really it was just more of a cooler color vs the warmer, more neutral color on the Meopro. So it would seem that at dusk and dawn Zeiss would of won, but that wasn't the case as even though they were both 8x the Meopro had slightly more magnification, which did sacrifice the field of view a little, but it had a bigger exit pupil, which I couldn't understand how that was possible especially since the magnification was slightly stronger, so I put both binos objective lens almost touching the wall and shined a light through the ocular lens and the Meopro had a bigger circle of light meaning that Zeiss isn't utilizing the inner tube to its full 42mm potential and decreasing the exit pupil and fullness of view, The Meopro really had more of a fuller view. The Meopro felt way better in the hand, I love the olive color and the texture of the rubber. The biggest issue with the Zeiss was their eyecups were designed with not enough eye relief, so you couldn't put your eyes into the eyecup or they would eclipse , so you have to contact Zeiss for extended eyecups and from what I've read it still doesn't solve the problem and this is a 2012 model and Zeiss is still selling this with this MAJOR issue , so I put a big fat X on the Conquest which is a few hundred dollars more than the Meopro. In conclusion I'm very content with my decision for the Meopro 8x42, its a great binocular.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT GLASS Heard a lot of good things about this brand but I was skeptical. I took a chance and bought this Bino anyway. The clarity is equal to binoculars costing much more money and this Binocular is stylish with great ergonomics.
