DVM-12CLD Cleaning Cassette is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 111.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved the Day I was loading some shots from my Mini DV Cam into (the now way better than FCP)- Adobe Premiere Pro, when I was having issues with the Camera : horizontal bands, drop outs, not reading time code etc. I thought the Camera was dying and would have to replace it, (which I didn't want to spend the money on, since it's now retired and used only as a deck for archived tapes.) This cleaning tape restored it to normal...now no problems!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from When you need it bad This is a great product! My DCR-TVR900 (Sony) has been my pack-it-quick-n-go video camera for years. It's been everywhere and has taken more lickings than a Timex, but I never ONCE cleaned the heads. It recently started giving me a bad picture. I looked everywhere in town for a head cleaner with no luck. After locating one on-line I was a bit hesitant to order because after years of abuse, I didn't think it would work. I ran it through twice with no noticable improvement. But the 3rd time was the charm. Ran it through one more time and then ran at least 10 tapes from it to DVD without a single video glich. Good investment for an even greater camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed my problem For alot of people, I imagine, general maintenance gets overlooked. For me, this led to my camera dropping frames every couple of minutes while recording. I now have to re-shoot two days of interviews because I didn't take 10 sec. to clean my heads. Buy it. Do it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to do! I have a 7-year-old Panasonic Mini-Dv camcorder. I have used numerous different brands of tapes and never cleaned the heads. Not surprisingly, I finally started getting the dreaded blue bars and blue screen. To be honest, the camera had performed so flawlessly up to that point, I originally thought it was finally failing. I then realized the error of my ways and ordered a handful of these Sony cleaning casettes (a few for my other video cams as well). After two quick 10-second cleanings, my camera is good as new! No more blue lines or artifacts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy, saved our camcorder!! Thought we were going have to get a new camcorder d/t grey lines through the video on play back. Took 3 tries with the cassette, (however it may have worked the first time). Kept trying to rewatch the same video that had the lines on it and the lines never went away. Decided to put in a different tape that we had recorded on and the playback was fine. Put the original damaged tape back in and rewound it further back on the tape. Seemed it was only the part that was recorded when the head was dirty was the only bad part of the tape. Works good as new!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An absolute nessecity... When working with high end gear or off the shelf sony cameras from the local @, I found out, the hard way, how importaint it is to use the manufacturer's head cleaning supplies. With my hd camera, I used a generic cleaner and it got jammed in the cassette housing. I thought I did more damage than good.I purchased the DVM-12cld cassette and have had peice of mind ever since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DVM-12CLD Review My Canon HV20 told me to clean the head. I used this product to clean the head in my Canon HV20. Did exactly as the directions stated to do and the clean head notification went away. Easy to use but, do not use more than the instructions to tell you to do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a big win-win for camera health On the outside, one probably sees the DVM-12CLD Cleaning Cassette by Sony as a simple accessory. Oh yeah, ya gotta clean your heads every now and then. I don't have to explain the importance of that little accessory to a video professional. I am a wedding videographer. If the heads get dirty, I cannot ask the bride and groom to repeat the ceremony, or the cake cutting. Lo and behold, my cleaning cassette disappeared....and I had a wedding that day. Dare I risk the Cleaning Cassette message in my viewfinder....which usually is followed by an unintelligable image? Well, I had to find retailer fast. NO ONE carries a cleaning cassette for miniDV...except the unmentionable chain. I went to this chain in desperation and discovered a cleaning cassette that was cheap and flimsy...utilizing brushes that sweep back and forth. THANK GOD I didn't need it. I returned it and ordered the Sony, which by the way, was CHEAPER than the unmentionable shack! The DVM-12CLD Cleaning Cassette by Sony has never let me down, and it won't let you down. Just don't lose it.
