The black TurboSwap MB171SP-B Tray-Less 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Mobile Rack from Icy Dock lets you install full- and half height 3.5" SATA drives in a 5.25" bay. The rack fits any standard 5.25" bay and has a rugged build with an all metal design. This lockable mobile rack is ideal for rugged applications such as medical and military systems, industrial PCs, and servers.

The rack has a drive power button, ultra slim 80mm cooling fan with speed control, and screw holes to install an optional 120mm cooling fan, which can be ideal for gamers and power users looking to add a hot-swap SATA III bay to their system.

Key Features

Lets you install full- and half-height 3.5" SATA drives in a 5.25" bay
Compatible with 2.5" SATA HDD/SSDs
Supports up to 6 Gb/s transfer speeds (depending on host configuration)

Locking mechanism to protect your data
Slim 80mm fan keeps the drive cool
Front panel fan speed control with drive power button

Shock absorbing anti-vibration features
Tray-Less Design Benefits
The rack allows you to quickly swap drives without the fuss of rewiring or installing trays on your drives. The TurboSwap allows you to hot-swap drives within seconds, while maintaining drive stability and overall reliability. The Ultra-Flex shock absorbing kit provides drive support whether it's a half height drive or a full size drive; it stabilizes the drive and absorbs vibrations.
Cooling Fan
The included slim 80mm fan is mounted beneath the rack to allow sufficient cooling for all types of applications, whether you're running a server that's constantly under heavy load or a media system that's running 24/7. If you need to add an aftermarket 120mm fan, the necessary screw holes are there. Individual power control allows you to turn off your HDD with the touch of a button, which can help you preserve the life of your drives.
Security
TurboSwap allows you to lock the hard drive in place to prevent theft or tampering. The integrated barrel lock and keys in the rack increase security. This barrel locking mechanism and all-metal design adds an extra layer of data protection, which is recommended for most businesses.

TurboSwap MB171SP-B Tray-Less 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Mobile Rack (Black) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent and sturdy mobile rack! I have other hard drive dock but this Icy Dock is sturdier than the other brand that I have. I really like the power button because I can turn off the power when the hard drive is not in use. Also the slot to slide in the hard drive is nice because it doesn't just have the side support but the dock have a rectangular metal support on all side to help support the hard drive as you insert the hard drive. The dock also includes a fan on the bottom to help cool hard drive. Other people says the fan is loud but I hardly notice the fan noise though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just bought a second unit I have two HP workstations and two external HDDs that take up space on my editing desk. The Icy Dock was very easy to install and using the HDDs from the external enclosure provides me with a less cluttered work area, no power cords or eSATA wires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premium Device...don't think twice After putting this bay to good use, I am very please with the strong build quality and smooth insert and eject mechanism. It is all-metal on the parts that the hard drive makes contact with mostly...this attribute plus the fan keeps the hard drive much cooler, thus extending the life of the hard drive.Yes, this bay on sale is still $ more than the Rosewill or Startech or whatever knock-off variants for a good reason. This ICY Dock has the extra features for those of us that want all the options. I've seen the other products and read the reviews and decided on the ICY Dock for the luxury of being able to just power down a bay when the hard drive will not be in use.In my setup, I have W10 and W7 installed independently on two drives. I mostly use the W10 and run the W7 on occasion. Since the W7 drive seldomly is needed, there's no sense running it every time I boot to W10 as I'm not sharing files between the two OSs; this is where the power switch sold me.Most likely, I'll pick up another one for the W10 drive. This way, I can keep both drives alive longer. I highly recommend spending the extra money getting this unit if you want a premium device that will provide much more flexibility of use and keep the drive cool. As you know, cooler makes everything last a whole lot longer...heat is your enemy in electronics.
