ASUS N2830 Overview

  • 1Description

The C200MA-EDU-4GB 11.6" Chromebook Computer from ASUS is designed for a Web-optimized experience. With a minimalist black finish and a more user-friendly interface than traditional notebook computers, the ASUS C200MA Chromebook features a unique computing experience enhanced by the Internet.

The C200MA has an 11.6" widescreen display. The screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 1366 x 768 native resolution, which is powered by integrated Intel HD Graphics. Its resolution can support native 720p HD video playback without upscaling or letterboxing. The display also has a glossy finish for vibrant color. There is also an HDMI port so you'll be able to output video to a larger external display, such as an HDTV.

The system is powered by a dual-core 2.16 GHz Intel Bay Trail-M Celeron N2830 processor. It also has 4GB of 1066 MHz DDR3L RAM, 32GB of eMMC flash storage, a 3-in-1 media card reader, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, an integrated HD webcam, and microphone. There are also built-in stereo speakers.

Google Chrome OS is a Linux-based operating system designed by Google to work exclusively with web applications. The ASUS Chromebook combines the aspects of a pure cloud client with the hardware of a traditional portable computer, which puts it in its very own class of netbook and notebook computers.

802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support at launch. 802.11ac Wi-Fi support will be added at a later date via a free software update from ASUS.

Chrome OS
Using Linux as a base, Google designed Chrome OS to work exclusively with web applications. The user interface takes a minimalist approach, which greatly resembles the Google Chrome web browser. Chrome OS was built for people who spend a majority, if not all, of their time on the computer connected to the Internet. The only application that comes installed on Chrome OS is a special Google Chrome web browser with an integrated media player and file manager. All other applications are accessed by adding apps from the Google Chrome Web Store. Since Chrome OS relies entirely on Google's web apps and access to Google's services, it is highly recommended that you connect to the Internet to optimize your Chrome OS experience

    ASUS N2830 Reviews

C200MA-EDU-4GB 11.6" Chromebook Computer (Black) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 11.6-inch ASUS C200MA-EDU-4GB Chromebook The 11.6-inch ASUS C200MA-EDU-4GB Chromebook is an absolutely wonderful computer. It is thin, light, sleek, and very attractive. The display is superb, with crisp text, and vibrant color reproduction. The keyboard and trackpad are excellent, as is the connectivity. The Intel Bay Trail-M N2830 processor is very powerful and capable, and it literally delivers over twelve hours of run time. The 4GB of RAM provides for smooth and fluid multitasking. This new 11.6-inch ASUS Chromebook is outstanding, and it is one of the best computers that I have ever owned. In addition, I greatly appreciate the terrific service and professionalism of B&H Photo Video. Best regards, Kenneth L. Rodino, M.D.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Fine Machine. Definitely a Keeper. I come from a 2012 Samsung Arm Chromebook. The Asus is a major upgrade from that. Better build quality, much better screen, better touchpad, as good as or better keyboard. The 4gb memory allows me to run a lot of extensions. 26 to be exact, including Adblock Plus.I use this machine for browsing, spreadsheets, writing, Netflix, Music, Youtube etc. It operates quickly and smoothly. If you plan on running Linux you might want a little faster cpu. I wouldn't worry about games too much since you probably won't run them on a Chromebook. Don't fall into the trap of specking for them at the cost of good everyday performance and expense. For browsing and general network interaction the Asus Chromebook is as good as my Asus I7 gaming computer. Better actually because of better battery life (11+ hours) and weight and the essentially instant on. Also no noise and runs much cooler. All big advantages. Also no viruses, malware, and windows maintenance which is a pain you know where. So I highly recommend the Asus for the reasons stated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Machine This machine is fantastic! The battery never dies, the wifi signal is great with ac standard and it's incredibly light. I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 with Crouton and it works well so far. Only took 4 days shipping. Definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Work Machine ...if your work is centered around email, order forms (and other small spreadsheets), and accessing websites.I purchased this Chromebook specifically for work, as my work process centers around those above mentioned things exactly. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and am overall pleased with the machine.I like that it isn't over-large, has a respectable keyboard and trackpad (really, they're great - particularly when you consider the price point of this machine), and has 4gb of RAM. It's fast and prompt in everything I've asked it to do, though none of that is notably resource intensive. The battery life is fantastic, which means that I leave the charger home most days; I'm not using it long enough on any given day that I have to worry about charging it.My critiques of this Chromebook are minimal: I strongly dislike the glossy cover on the machine. It readily shows fingerprints and swiftly looks dirty and grimy as a result. Another detail that I found irritating is the power cord: It's a bit of a disappointment in that it's a wall-wart style plug that isn't grounded. It seems like Asus rummaged up the most cost-effective option available in this particular regard. Compared to the rest of the machine - which seems to be a carefully considered balance between cost effective and quality - the power cord seems like an after thought. Unfortunate, if perhaps minor.I'm very pleased with this Chromebook, and would happily recommend it to others looking for a sturdy little laptop to serve in a similar fashion as I use it: for doing internet-based tasks that aren't too resource intensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Chromebook Very well made for a Chromebook. The ASUS 200MA-EDU-4G model has 4GB of memory and 32GB of flash storage, which is at the high end of Chromebook specifications. The dual-core Intel Bay-Trail processor is at the lower end of performance but it runs cool and the battery life is longer than most Haswell processor Chromebooks. I installed Ubuntu Linux and it doubles as an excellent ultra-portable laptop, while not negatively affecting Chrome OS. The video is about what you would expect for a low-mid range Chromebook, not exceptional but certainly adequate for web browsing, movie watching and enjoying you photographs. The speakers, keyboard and trackpad are all excellent. The SD slot allows for full insertion so SD memory cards do not stick out - I really like this feature in a laptop. Adding additional memory via the USB 3.0 port provides fairly fast I/O. I'm really pleased with the build quality; the ASUS does not look or feel cheap. I've had no major issues either with Chrome OS or with Ubuntu Linux which is fairly easy to install if you are a bit of a techie. Note that installing another operating system is not recommended by the manufacturer and not necessary to enjoy this product. I use a McBook Pro w/Retina Display for intensive tasks. Overall, an excellent Chromebook for the price.
