Fujifilm MHG-XT overview

  • 1Description

The Fujifilm MHG-XT Large Metal Hand Grip for X-T1 provides an optimized grip for easier handling and manipulation of the Fujifilm X-T1 Mirrorless Digital Camera. Milled from aluminum alloy and matching the silhouette of the camera, this hand grip adds an additional 8mm of clearance from the base of the body to better support the use of large-diameter lenses when mounted to a tripod. At the base of the grip, a 38mm-wide protrusion features a dovetail design that can act as a quick release plate with Arca-Swiss-style tripod mounts. Compared to the standard MHG-XT, this large-styled grip adds even more body to the grip's structure, which better enables its use during long shooting periods and extended handling.

The grip also facilitates access to the battery compartment and memory card slot, even when mounted to a tripod, for easier switching of batteries and cards during shooting. Additionally, the 1/4"-20 tripod mount has been positioned along the optical axis of the camera to benefit the creation of panning shots.

    Fujifilm MHG-XT reviews

MHG-XT Large Metal Hand Grip for X-T1 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect grip When shooting on the street with my X-T1, I prefer using a wrist strap rather than a neck strap, which means I'm sometimes holding the camera for hours at a time. Adding this grip completely eliminated the cramping I used to feel in my hand. It also provided some added security in that I don't feel like I would ever drop the camera if bumped in a crowd. I tried the smaller grip first, but this one was much more comfortable for my large hands. It also looks great with the graphite silver version. I leave it on the camera permanently. Access to the battery compartment is easy, and the centered tripod mounting point is convenient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is great. I was hesitant about increasing the size and weight of the camera body as that is one of the reasons i bought the camera. It is small in my hand and I thought about getting the smaller grip, but decided to get this one. It easily and solidly installs on the camera and the size is great. My hand feels like it has a really solid hold of the camera and the extra weight allows it to sit on my chest and not bounce around nearly as much as without it. This is one the best options/upgrades on a great camera. For reference, I shoot with a Nikon d610 and wanted something not quite so large to carry with me everywhere. I shoot with the XT1 now almost all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome & Essential I use this on my X100 at all times, you can walk about with out a wrist strap quite securely as the rubberised grip allows excellent contact with the camera. Even on a tripod i leave it on, in fact its better as the tripod connection is dead centre of the sensor/lens on the hand grip unlike the camera body. I am so happy i got this large grip over the smaller version, mainly because you can walk around with the camera hanging at your side ready to shoot totally secure. you could not do this with the smaller version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now it feels and look more like a DSLR The standard grip on the X-T1 just felt way too small for me. Especially if you are used to holding DLSRs. This grip makes it feel like you are connected better to the camera and it fills the hand nicely. In my opinion, skip the two smaller grips and the battery grip (unless of course you really need the vertical hold or the extra battery power) and go right to this one. A must have for any X-T1 owners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to a great camera I wanted a little more grip to the camera and worried about the added weight especially at the bottom. As it turns out, the added weight keeps the camera from bouncing around as much on my chest and the grip is a great size. Now, I feel like I have a really solid purchase on the camera with just one hand. It also makes it easier to point and shoot when you're in an action or street environment. The tilt screen is indeed a bit harder to lift out, but that has not been any kind of real problem for me. It easily and solidly attaches and looks like it is a natural part of the camera. Aesthetically, the lens seems more centered on the camera and I like that this looks more serious rather than a point and shoot. I have a Nikon full frame, but always have this with me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yes it's a hand grip If you have normal man hands you will need a bigger grip. The camera is slim and small and if used for a long period of time will not sit right in your hand and cause pain in your palm. I suggest getting the grip if you are used to a solid DSLR. You will be much happier. Only issue I had is the price. It is extremely expensive for a piece of metal and plastic that does nothing more than add space to your camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Grip I started off with the smaller MHG-XT grips and now have this grip on both of my XT-1s. These grips have a but more mass and finger depth than the smaller ones, which I like. It allows me to feel like ai have a nice firm grasp of the camera. My hands would be considered a men's large size (typical glove size). My wife has small hands and she finds this grips a bit too big and as such uses the smaller MHG-XT on her XT-1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get a Grip! The Fuji MHG-XT Metal Hand Grip for the X-T1 is pricey but fits the camera as though it was part of the original design. It allows unimpeded access to the battery and provides a very comfortable and secure grip. The build quality is equal to the X-T1's excellent build quality with an added feature of an Arca-Swiss style quick release mechanism as an integral part of the design. Highly recommended.
