WaveLab 8.5 from Steinberg is the all-in-one solution for professional mastering, high-resolution multi-channel audio editing, audio restoration, sample design and radio broadcast work, right through to complete CD/DVD-A production. The software features sample-accurate stereo or multi-track audio editing, combined with effects for sound design.
The user interface comprises four different workspaces - Audio File, Audio Montage, Batch Processor and Podcast, with each customizable workspace dedicated to a specific job and providing a rich toolset for its respective task. Depending on the editing task, users may choose between a destructive stereo editor, and the powerful non-destructive, clip-based Audio Montage for stereo or multi-track projects.
The Podcast workspace is a complete online publishing toolset that allows for creating and publishing podcasts for the Internet. WaveLab Control section lets the user group a freely selectable range of analysis tools into a dedicated space, which can be detached and moved to another display. For example, this is perfect for organizing the included analysis tools such as the spectroscope, VU metering, oscilloscope, waveform display, spectrum metering, phase correlation tool and bit-metering.
WaveLab 8.5 includes comprehensive remote control support, perfect for integration with Steinberg's range of controller hardware, including the company's AI knob feature. The software can used with up to three other MIDI-based control surfaces supporting the MIDI learn function, with easy assignment of the controls to a specific parameter within the application. Modifiers such as the keyboard or MIDI pedals can be used to control these parameters. This can be done even with iPad controllers (by using MIDI bridge).
The software is available as a 64-bit version for Mac OS X 10.8 and Windows 8 platforms, allowing the user to edit hundreds of tracks simultaneously, handle extensive batch processes, or analyze and restore audio material with utmost precision.
