    StarTech SDOCK2U33 Reviews

USB 3.0 to Dual 2.5/3.5- HDD/SSD Docking Station with UASP is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works as intended but with issues The unit caused a table vibration when the 3.5inch hdd are operating, needed to add some more substantive rubber feet to isolate the noise. This is a common problem with this type of Docking Station. I had cause to open the unit up and found the main PCB which supports the SATA sockets was only supported by two diagonal posts, the other two posts had been removed in manufacture as far as I can see to not obstruct part of the top case, but one needed modifying the other was ok. anyway added some nylon spaces and screws to fully support the PCB. Without the mod the PCB is not fully supported and depending on the number of times of HDD insertion would lead to early failure of the other mounting posts. The unit was sold into Australia but the international plug adaptors supplied for the power supply did not include the Australian type! I had another Power unit so no drama. At best with the issues only 1-2 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blazing fast I've only had it about a week so far but the transfer speeds from this unit are a dream. Fastest Read Write speeds of any USB 3 device I own. I put in one of my Samsung EVO SSDs and easily and consistently get around 400 MBs according to BM Disk Speed Test software. As expected, my 3.5 6 gbs drives top out around 105 MBs. I'll take that since they toped out around 34 MBs on my USB 2 Dock station.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great My iMac early 2009 and MBP early 2011 cannot read HDD's over 2.2TB. I discovered that when I purchased a Toshiba 3TB HDD internal for an enclosure I had. I purchased this Dock and plugged it in(power and USB 3.0 cables) and my Macs detected all 3TB. Since this is a dual dock I purchased an additional 3TB and it sees them both. The description says it can detect up to 4TB which is a big plus. The only negative is that my iMac can only go USB 2.0 so for transferring data it is slow but that is a limitation on my iMac, not the Dock. Now I have 6TB to work with and I have consolidated all my data scattered on numerous external HDD's. One footprint instead of many. One device that eliminated several devices. Another thing is that you can turn off the HDD you are not using. I keep off the 2nd HDD because I don't need it yet but it's there when I fill up the 1st Hdd. There is one con. Wherever you place the dock make sure it is stable and out of the way of accidentally bumping it. It is great that you can insert a HDD easily into the dock and just as easily remove it. But there is a downside to that as the dock don't hold the HDD's snugly. There's some give and if you bump the dock you can lose the connection and have to turn the dock off/on to restore it. The dock could be heavier and have some type of stabilizing mechanism to hold the HDD's more snugly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from absolutely the worst I have 2. The drives don't fit securely in the docking stations. They disconnect and reconnect intermittently. This is a major flaw while working on large video projects. Do NOT buy this drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good one I use it in RAID 0 with two Hitachi 3T connected to a MacBook Pro to USB3 with UASP enable and I got more than 300 MB/s testing it with Black Magic program. I recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ok i use this unit to read and right to rotational drives this unit requires u to format the drive before using this device all the other readers i use don't require this

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as Advertised The Independent Power switches for each HD Bay is what gave this product the edge over other models. Comes with numerous adapters for Multi County use.

Does this unit have a fan?SDOCK2U33
    Asked by: joseph t.
HI Joseph, just saw this question . . . I own this and it doesn't have a fan. The drives can get a little warm, but I don't believe a fan is necessary, I've worked it pretty hard for the TV show raw footage.
