I haven’t received yet in the mail over couple weeks but luckily I have the silver Leica button and so far looks super cool and awesome. Stays snug on the release shutter button and feels good when pressed.

Lol -- I have five Leica bodies -- three film and two M digitals. I had seen and read about these little soft release buttons. As far as function? Ummmm: Not a whole lot of big diff there, although the Leica-Acolytes claim there is. It arrived and I tried it on an M3 and an M9. 1. I like it!! It really does give you some sort of mystery power over the shutter release that makes it seem more quiet. Probably just a placebo effect! 2. Man, does it LOOK GOOD! Soooooo Good! Is it a bit pricey? Yeah -- bit it is worth the tariff!! lol

Yes. I purchased 2x of them because I couldn’t decide and ended up putting one on a MP and the other on an M6.

Why are two pieces shown? What is the purpose of each?
The red piece with the Leica logo is the soft release button which screws into the shutter release button of the camera. The silver piece is to screw into the back of the red button to use it as a lapel pin. So you are able to use them in either of these fashions.

Does this have a locking system so it does's come unscrew?
No, it doesn't have a locking mechanism. It simply screws down on the shutter release button and you would notice easily if it started to come unscrewed a bit in which time you would snug it back down.
