Video Pro X6 Video Editing Software for Windows from MAGIX Entertainment is an electronically downloaded non-linear editing program (NLE) that runs in the 64-bit Windows environment. Featuring native timeline editing for a range of codes, including AVCHD, HDV, ProRes, H.264, DV, XDCAM, and many MXF formats, it is possible to mix and match formats in the timeline, and up to nine sources can be intercut in real-time using multicam editing. Support can be added for AVC-Intra and DVCPro with the purchase of a license separately available from MAGIX Entertainment.

In addition to SD and HD content, Video Pro supports stereoscopic 3D editing, allowing you to use the same tools available for 2D editing, plus special 3D-specific tools. It can also import and edit several 4K and UHD formats, including GoPro and Canon EOS footage. Built-in color correction and effects tools are provided, as well as compatibility with many 64-bit plug-ins from third parties. Audio can be precisely edited at the sample level, and the mixer utility allows isolated effects and adjustments to be applied to individual channels. 5.1-channel surround mixing is also supported.

The finished project can be exported directly to social media, to a file, or to disc. There are optimized presets to choose from, and you can batch transcode to convert a number of files at once.

What's New for Version X6?

Native 64-Bit Architecture
More processing power can be dedicated to decoding and encoding H.264 and audio codecs plus the application can now use more than 4GB of RAM where available
Movie Objects (Nested Sequences)
Entire video sequences can become objects in a project - meaning complete movies can be embedded in other movies as objects
Expanded 4K Support
Supports many consumer and prosumer 4K and UHD formats, including those generated by the - Samsung Galaxy Note 3, HERO3+ Black Edition, Canon DSLRs with Magic Lantern, Canon EOS-1D C, and more
Four new measuring instruments have been added to assist color correction and grading: Vectorscope, Waveform Monitor, Histogram, and RGB Parade Waveform
New and Improved Effects
Many video effects are now GPU-optimized and new effects have been added. Notably, the HDR effect - enabling dynamic adjustment to simulate the look of HDR (high dynamic range) photos
Updated UX Design
Additions and updates to improve the user experience include optimized handles for image size and positioning, the Ease In/Ease Out function for each keyframe, the Qualifier for precise positioning on a specific axis in the video monitor, and separate horizontal or vertical centering and relative positioning for object groups

Import Formats

Broad Codec Support
Supports most widely used acquisition and delivery formats, including AVCHD, HDV, DV, H.264, XDCAM, and more. Support for DVCPro and AVC-Intra can be added with the purchases of an additional license
Open Timeline
Natively edit a variety of different video formats - e.g., DV, HDV, AVCHD, ProRes - all in the same timeline
Import Dialog for Memory Cards
The import dialog offers filter functions, automatic sorting, and pre-import previewing for optimal data management during the entire editing process
Screen Capturing
Capture what's happening on your monitor for tutorials and screen casts. Video Pro will record it directly to your project
Full Stereo3D Support
Work with 3D material using the same tools you would for 2D. 3D footage is synchronized and aligned automatically, and you can manually adjust the image offset

Proxy Support
Automatically or manually create a low-quality version of the original video that is more suitable for editing on resource-limited computers or to reduce online storage requirements
Hybrid Video Engine with Intel Media SDK
Exploits optimizations in certain Intel CPUs - including the Core i7 - to allow multi-thread video processing for a faster workflow, especially when doing color correction

Editing Tools

Three- and Four-Point Editing
With three-point editing you specify the In and Out points for the first clip and just the In point for the following clip; with four-point editing you specify In and Out points for both clips. Either way, both clips get added to the timeline automatically, with or without time stretching to fill any gaps
Multicam Editing
View and edit up to nine tracks at same time. Quickly change camera angle by clicking on its associated window. The clips can be automatically synchronized using audio analysis
Time Stretching
Expand (slow down) or contract (speed up) the length of a clip - the audio will automatically adjust to maintain its original pitch
Advanced Search for Gaps
Returns a list of all gaps (black space) in your timeline
Image Stabilizer
Digitally corrects shacking camera footage, zooming in on the image to cut out any black space that would otherwise appear

User Interface

Flexible Layout
Rearrange and resize windows within the workspace to best suit user preference
Multifunctional Rendering Dialog
Features include the ability to shut the computer down automatically when all of the rendering is finished. The dialog can be minimized to free up screen real estate, and the render can be paused to allow other processes to run a full performance
Full Screen Preview on a Second Monitor
Thanks to the DirectX API, a second, full screen preview window can be drawn without overburdening the hardware on computers with integrated graphics
Shortcuts to Save Time
Keyboard shortcuts are editable, and can be expanded as needed

Effects and Color Correction

Three-Way Color Correction
Provides separate color wheels for Shadows, Midtones, and Highlights. Angle, Level, and Saturation can also be adjusted using dedicated sliders
Title Editor
Create static and animated 2D and 3D titles with attributes including motion blur effects and drop shadows
Slow Motion Effects
Uses frame interpolation to fill in the gaps when slowing footage down for a smoother, more natural looking results
Effects Mask
Select a portion of an image to apply an alpha mask, effects or composite images can then be added to this area
Comparison Mode
Allows you to compare the result after any color correction or effects have been applied to the original clip with two side-by-side windows
Keyframe Functions
Add keyframes to control the evolution of effects over time

Audio Editing

Audio Effects
Based on the Samplitude audio engine, built-in audio effects include: DeClipper, DeNoiser, DeHisser, Delay, Equalizer, Compressor, Pitchshifting, Reverb, stereo pan effects, and more
Real-Time Audio Mixer
Mix and shape your project's sound track with an onscreen mixer featuring channel strips with virtual faders and pan knobs. Effects such as an equalizer or compressor can be applied individually, or use the master effects section. The mixer supports the DirextX API and VST plug-ins
Sample Precise Editing
Because a video frame typically occupies 1/25 or 1/30 of a second, sufficiently detailed audio editing often isn't possible. Sample-precise audio object editing enables cuts, transitions, and video image synchronization at the sample rate of the audio stream - e.g., 1/48,000 of a second for most camera-originated audio sources
5.1 Surround Support
Use the 5.1 Creator tool to mix surround sound audio tracks
Keyframe Control
Automate audio effects by applying keyframes, and control how they evolve over time

Export and Authoring

DVD, Blu-Ray, and AVCHD Authoring
A wide range of animated templates are included for creating discs. These can be customized in the application or exported for editing in Xara Designer Pro or Adobe Photoshop. Up to eight audio tracks are supported, which is ideal for multilingual DVDs and a combination of stereo sound and Surround Sound. You can also produce AVCHD and Blu-ray Discs complete with animated menus and multi-channel audio
MPEG-2 I-Frame Only Support
Natively edit and export the low-compression, 4:2:2 I-frame only MPEG-2 codec
Direct Online-Upload
Convert your finished videos to a social media-optimized format - such as H.264 - and upload automatically to websites including YouTube, Vimeo, and showfy
Batch Transcoding
Save time by transcoding multiple files - or your entire project - at once. You can even set it to have your computer automatically power off once the process is complete
Timecode Burn-In
Export with NLE-generated timecode burned over other image. Parameters such as typeface and placement are customizable

Third-Party Support

64-Bit Plugin Support
The 64-Bit versions of many poplar plug-ins may be installed to extended functionality, including Red Giant, proDAD, and Neat Video
Exchange with Other Applications
The support for alpha channel in AVI video means clips used in compositing can be exchanged between Video Pro and dedicated effects software such as Adobe After Effects or Blender. Additionally, Photoshop files - even ones with layers - can be imported to Video Pro
Blackmagic I/O Support
Video Pro supports monitoring (at up to 1080i) through Blackmagic Design I/O devices, including the DeckLink series and Intensity Pro

Bundled Software

proDAD Mercalli V2 (64-Bit version)
Stabilizes shaky videos and provides tools to help you salvage footage that might otherwise be unusable
Red Giant Magic Bullet Quick Looks 1.4 (64-bit version)
Offers over 100 Looks templates to add a stylistic look to your footage without resorting to extensive color correction. Themes include, classic filmstrips, grainy retro looks, warm, romantic colors, and more
