Syrp Magic Carpet Camera Slider Overview

The Magic Carpet Carriage and End Caps Kit with Short Track is a bundle put together by B&H that adds up to a complete slider dolly system with a 2.6' track.

The bundle features the Magic Carpet Carriage and End Caps, which in turn is comprised of two end caps which act as feet for the track and a carriage assembly that the camera mounts on. The Carriage slides into the end of the track and includes a brake, a bubble level, and a reversible 3/8-"16 and 1/4"-20 threaded screw to attach a camera, ballhead, or tripod head. The two End Caps slot into the end of the tracks and have adjustable quick release legs which are adjusted by pulling out a lever, without the need for additional tools. Additionally, the End Caps include Genie rope lock-off hooks which enable the Syrp Genie Motion Control Time Lapse Device to be easily attached and locked off.

question

Hi, i have this slider and a Surui tripod. Could you tell me which plate can i use for mounting the Magic Carpet on my tripod? Thanks.
Asked by: Mariano F.
If by plate you mean the two sets of rails that come in Kit, you can use either set of on a tripod. Simply attach the tripods quick release plate to the middle screw hole. Do be cognoscente that you need a robust tripod if you have a heavy camera and video head particularly if you use the 5.2' rail set. Otherwise you may fall over.

question

How can I choose the right tripod to use with the magic carpet?
Asked by: Otavio
I attach a tripod on one end and a light stand on the other side and it works great. If you want to shoot video with it I would get a head like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/827210-REG/Manfrotto_MVH502AH_75Mm_Flat_Head.html It hooks right on the slider and works great. If you are doing timelapse then get a head like the one Syrp sells.

question

Can this slider be used vertically?
Asked by: Philipp
Yes it can. But I suggest using proper camera and grip gear for best result. L camera mount or solid stand for vertical mount. And proper offset weight to camera via counterweight rollers on the ends of the slider.
