The white AMC2 4W-EXT Wiegand Extension Board from Bosch is equipped with 4 Wiegand-type reader-interfaces, 8 inputs, and 8 outputs. This extension module extends the number of readers on an AMC2 4W Wiegand interface from 4 to 8. It is controlled and monitored entirely by the interface and connected to it using the RS485 extension interface. It is connected between the access controller AMC2 4W and the various peripheral devices.
The extension board has four 10-wire interfaces with shield to connect up to 4 readers via a cable with a maximum length of up to 518.4' (158.0 m). The 4 interfaces support 26-bit and 37-bit Wiegand formats. The signal settings and parameterization of the readers connected to the extension module are carried out by the configuration applications in the access control systems Access Personal Edition and BIS Access Engine, and by the AMC2 4W to which it belongs.
The 8 analog inputs can be used as digital or analog contacts. For analog use, the resistance values can be specified to check for cable breaks and short-circuits. Each of the 8 outputs can operate with potential free contacts for an external power supply (dry mode) or can operate using the internal voltage of a power supply (wet mode). Only ohm-resistive loads can be connected to the relay. Inductive loads must be bypassed via recovery diodes (1N4004), which are enclosed.
Note: The AMC2 4W-EXT Extension Board can not be deployed as an independent controller and is just an extension module for the AMC2 4W Interface. Control and access decisions and bookings are carried out by the AMC2 4W Interface alone.
Using the Wiegand interfaces, up to 8 peripheral devices can be connected to each AMC2 4W Interface. The interfaces are point-to-point connections, meaning that only one reader can be connected to one interface.
