The heli-optimized 14SGH 14-Channel 2.4 GHz Computer Radio System from Futaba is a transmitter (radio controller) that can be programmed to control a multitude of RC aircraft, including fixed-wind planes, helicopters and multi-rotors, and gilders. It can also be used with certain production equipment, such as video stabilizer gimbals, that have compatible receivers. The transmitter features 14-channels and supports receivers with the FASSTest, FASST, and S-FHSS protocols. The "H" in the model number indicates that the throttle gimbal is smooth rather than ratcheted, which is considered the preferred arrangement by many heli fliers.

The programmable computer is able to store settings for up to 30 models internally, and this memory can be expanded using an SD or SDHC card up to 32GB in capacity. To access the menu to change settings or view data from the aircraft (where supported) there is a 1.8 x 3" back-lit LCD screen. The transmitter is configured for Mode 2. Mode two is the most common in the U.S., however users in other countries may be accustomed to a different Mode. In Mode 2, roll and pitch are controlled with the pilot's right hand while yaw and throttle are controlled with the pilot's left hand.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunningly good This Futaba 14 SGH has been bought to complement the Futaba 14SG which I already have as a component in the flight system of my DJI S1000+ octocopter - - for aerial photo- and videography via a Zenmuse 5D III (HD) gimbal and a Canon 5D III camera with 24mm f/2.8 IS USM prime lens. The 14SGH is for helicopters and flying platforms, and the 14SG is for other aircraft. Once you understand the complex (but ultimately logical and intelligent) programming system of the Futaba, it becomes a very useful and comprehensive tool for controlling the camera on board the copter. The switches are conveniently placed and programmable so that EVERY possible photographic function one might need is at one's fingertips. The joy-sticks for camera positioning are sensitive enough to allow for pan speeds from barely moving to rapid - rapid for initial positioning and slow for actual useful footage. Considering that the S1000+ is a 400-foot-high tripod in the sky, and the gimbal merely a fluid video head, the Futaba 14SG is ultimately your hand on the arm of the video head and fingers on the controls of the camera. And you know what? The Futaba and the Zenmuse together are better at producing silky smooth pans than anything I can do with the manual control of my finest fluid video heads. The Futaba 14SGH is light and ergonomically designed to allow for ease of use and comfortable placement in one's hands. What more could one want in terms of flight control? Nothing that I can think of. Frequently referred to as expensive, this is one of those (many) instances that superb quality is reflected in the price - but, bear in mind, this is money incredibly well spent. I think its price is absolutely fair. I have created little labels which I have glued next to the switches so I can remember what is linked to what. It's worth downloading the manual and reading it in advance - - so it's not an incomprehensible jumble of words and diagrams when it arrives. A brilliant feature in the menus is the fact that it can be programmed for many different cameras and aerial platforms so in some ways it is a one-size-fits-all solution. Flick on the menu, choose the camera/platform you're using today, hit return, power up and fly/photograph. Go on! Buy two! One for the flight control in the hands of a pilot, and one as a camera controller in the hands of the camera-dude. I love them!
