Sennheiser G4ME Zero overview

  • 1Description

The black Sennheiser G4ME ZERO is a gaming-grade headset featuring ear pads made from thick leatherette and triple-layered memory foam. The base of the ear pads are thicker so that the headset closes around your ears to prevent noise from escaping and keeping background noise out. All this is designed to help fully immerse you in game play. The headset's noise canceling microphone cuts out background noise for clear communication. For easy access, volume controls are built into the right ear cup, and there is also a microphone mute function. Additionally, the headphones can be completely folded up and stored in the included hard carry case.

Design
G4ME ZERO features a new ear pad design, which Sennheiser has further developed from their professional pilot headsets. The ear pads are made from thick leatherette and triple-layered memory foam. The base of the ear pads are thick to ensure that the headset closes all around the ear. This prevents sound from escaping and keeps you from being disturbed by outside noise
German Engineered Technology
The G4ME ZERO has two transducers that are optimized to provide an extremely accurate reproduction of the gaming audio no matter what type of game you play. Each unit is mechanically and acoustically tested
Noise Cancelling
Microphone provides noise cancellation for clear chatting
Intuitive Controls
Volume controls are built into the right ear cup for easy access. There is a microphone mute function as well - simply lift the boom arm to mute it
Collapsible Design and Carry Case
The headphones can be completely folded up and stored in the included hard carry case

    Sennheiser G4ME Zero reviews

G4ME ZERO (Black) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Headset I use headgear about 60% for music, 40% gaming and wanted to stick with just one device for both. This headset had very good reviews both as a headset and for music listening, along with excellent specs in this price class. My first piece of Sennheiser equipment; I've definitely become a fan! The only caveat I would like to mention is if your computer doesn't have a sound card, it's definitely going to sound pretty flat. I'm powering mine with a Fiio E3 amplifier and I'm probably going to be getting a better one soon. This is more a reflection on my existing hardware, an audio enthusiast should know what they're getting into when buying a headset with 150ohm impedance. 5 star device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sound Sound I purchased the G4me Zero Headphones for the Xbox One system, which works great with the Elite controller. The 3.5 jack works well and plugs into the new keyboard accessory without an adapter. If you do not have the keyboard you will need to by the controller adapter to accommodate the 3.5 jack. It comes with a two cables on for direct controller connection and a separate on for computer connectivity. The headphones use the controller power, which even after hours of play has not run the controller into ground. The mic and sound quality are great with great response and no lag and for that I think these are sound for good sound quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice I have been using the Zero for a few months now and I can't find any real drawbacks for the role the Zero performs for me. I sit at a quiet desk with very little background noise. I use an Ambs Labs CK2III headphone amplifier with these phones and I would suggest other users find a suitable amp, due to the 150 Ohms rating on the Zero. I found the lows to be full and pleasent without being muddy... The mids were also full but a little veiled, with deeper male vocals sounding better than higher female vocals... At first the highs were a bit tizzy with lots of sizzle, but after a few days of use the highs settled down and are very nice... I consider the HP amp I use to be fairly transparent, but absolutely is a solid state amp, faithfully reproducing ALL the signals, good and bad.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Feeling Headset, Surprise by Sound I recently purchased the Game Zeros after loving my Game One headset that I use for console gaming at home. I typically play for a few hours at home, but at work I wear a headset almost the entire day. I've had alot of trouble finding a headset that fits me well (I have a large head 7 5/8th hat size) or doesn't compress my ears or glasses and cause headaches. After loving the Game One's I took the plunge on the Game Zeros. The price is steep but I figured I would definitely get alot of use out of them. Comfort The Game Zeros are extremely comfortable. The soft leather padding is nice (although I think I prefer the felt that the Ones have). Even with my big head, they never put too much pressure on my head/ears with glasses. They are lightweight but the closed design does cause some heat/sweat after a few hours of use. The Ones on the other hand have open acoustics and allow your head to breathe. Noise Canceling The noise canceling is somewhat marginal. I work in a shared office space with 4 other developers. It can get loud. I've used Bose noise canceling headphones on a plane, these don't compare. They do an OK job of knocking out sound when you have audio playing, but if nothing is coming out of the speaker, you wouldn't know they have noise canceling. Sennheiser also lists the Mic as noise canceling. I do a fair bit of audio recording at work. Compared to the cheap company provided off-brand desktop mic the Zeros perform noticeably better at cutting out background noise. Sound Quality At work I use a 27 iMac that unfortunately doesn't have a stereo audio plug so I also purchased the StarTech USB to Stereo adapter. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed at the quality of lows. Compared to the One the bass is nice and present. Here, the audio is almost tinny. This could be a bi-product of the USB adapter however. Mids and Highs come through clear and don't disappoint. Overall If you're trying to decide between the One and Zero, I hands down recommend the Ones over the Zero. The open acoustics provide an unreal level of sound quality that the Zero just doesn't match. If you are looking for a comfortable headset for prolonged use the Zero could be a contender, but I feel you may find a better performing headset elsewhere, specifically for bass response.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Headset I got quite surprise on how good is the noise canceling. Probably the most comfortable headset I've had in a long time the leather is so smooth. Amazing headset specially if you play Counter Strike or Battlefield, it really gives you that edge. Saw a lot of CSGO pros using it and I wanted to try that out. It gets even better if you use Razer Surround. Overall, very well built.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective microphone The microphone is horrible. The first computer i tried it on i sounded like i was talking with a mouthful of rocks. The second i couldnt hear myself at all. Only knew the mike was doing anything because the scale was moving when i spoke. Going to try them on my laptop, and if they fail again, back they go. Dont waste good money on this high priced junk. Only reason i bought them was because the brand is recommended for wireless mikes for pastors. Big disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely add this to your list...actually just buy it! I was in the market for a gaming headset for my PC and after hours of research I found that Sennheiser was always coming out on top... so I decided to pull the trigger. This headset is pricey but you usually get what you pay for and this definitely is true in this case. Immediately upon opening the box it was clear that it was a premium headset. The headset is comfortable (even with glasses) and I'm honestly hearing sounds in games that I didn't even know existed (Tracer's blink charge for example). It's a closed back (sound blocking) design which I wanted and in my opinion helps take you to the next level for game immersion. The mic quality is awesome and people I play online with cant tell the difference between the Sennheiser MIC and my Blue Yeti. Honestly if you are seriously considering a premium headset this is the one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great set of comfortable headphones I do have to say that these are the most comfortable headphones I have bought to date. They are a bit more than I was able to afford but due to work and school, these are perfect monitoring headphones that I can also use with my Xbox One and my phone. I would definitely recommend these headphones to others.
