V-NAND Technology

Flash memory is stacked to 32 cell layers, on top of one another, to offer higher density and higher performance within a smaller footprint. The result is higher read and write performance in both sequential and random speeds

RAPID Mode

Magician software offers the option to enhance performance by using the computer systems DRAM memory as a cache. Enabling RAPID mode can double the read and write performance

Reliable

V-NAND technology was designed to handle a 40GB day workload, which after ten years equates to 150 Terabytes written.

Power Management

When compared to DDR2 or DDR3 cache memory used in other SSD drives, this drive uses LPDDR2 cache memory that offers higher performance while using 30 percent less power when active and 93 percent less power when idle

Encryption

Includes hardware AES-256-bit encryption that secures your data without the lost of performance when compared to software-base encryption. All 850 Pro SSDs are enabled with SED technology that keeps your data safe even if you lose your computer. Complies also with the TCG Opal v2.0 standards, PSID, and is compatible with IEEE 1667 protocol. You can also erase or initialize date using crypto erase service

Dynamic Thermal Guard Protection

Monitors and maintains the drive's temperature by cutting back the write performance to reduce power consumption that generates heat until the drive reaches back to a safer temperature

One-stop Install Navigator Software

Toolkit that includes an auto install guide that is a simple three-step installation process that copies all the data from your SSD or hard drive to the 850 Pro. Magician software is also available through the One-stop Install Navigator software that offers benchmarking, OS optimization, disk health status tracking and over-provisioning settings

question

How does this SSD compare to the Samsung EVO version SSD?
Asked by: jeb
Although the 850 Pro is a small bit faster than the standard EVO, the supposed difference is a greater number of read/writes capable over the life of the drive. That said, it is unlikely that, under normal consumer use, would those limits be reached on either pro or standard.I use the Pro anyway (call it assurance) on my workstation and mission critical applications, and the standard drives for storage or less critical needs.

question

Does it work good in macbook pro 15 mid 2012 ?
Asked by: Anonymous
Works just fine. Not the fastest drives, but more than acceptable for everyday storage tasks. If you buy the Windows formatted version, you will have to reformat to your Macs Disk System (easy to do). They also sell one already formatted for Mac.
