I've had mine just over a month, and the latch housing lock snapped. So, an extra $7.00 for an aluminum one. No other issues thus far, but I doubt I'll buy this brand again unless I don't have a better choice.

Customer service trumps product quality...

Opted for the less expensive knock-off to mount my GoPro on my motorcycle. REVO offered what appeared to be an exact duplicate of GoPro's version at less than half the price. The product was slightly defective on receipt, with the tiny screws that hold the lens cover in place falling out. I was able to affect makeshift repairs by dropping tiny slivers of plastic into the screw holes to give the screws something to bite into. Managed to make the skeleton housing work, but the best part is the customer service from B&H. I sent a brief note to B&H explaining the problem. Without further questions, B&H informed me that a replacement item was being shipped at no charge/no shipping fee. Fantastic service. The replacement item has arrived and it doesn't have the defect. Both are now usable, so I have a spare. Thanks B&H, for your superior service.

Good enough for the money I paid

This is not the original Go pro product and you can feel and see it right away. The lock is very tight, the case is slightly bigger inside so I put one thin layer of cardboard under the camera to prevent any movement and clicks during recording. The opening on a side big enough to insert adaptor for microphone. Lens' clear cover has some stain mark on it and I tried to remove it with lens solution but it still there. It doesn't affect quality of picture much thou.

Saves money but lacks the GoPro quality.

For the money it is fine. It's just over half the price of GoPro's own skeleton case. But it has two shortcomings. The first, as others have noted, is that you have to open up the slot to fit the GoPro external mic adaptor. I used a metal file and 10 minutes later I was in business. The second, and more frustrating to me, is the locking mechanism for the case itself is not as well designed. It is a two piece unit that doesn't function as well as the GoPro model does. I've already lost one of the pieces when it flipped off and into the grass. It works well enough without it thankfully. It's not enough of an issue to make me throw it out and buy the GoPro version but if I had it to do all over again I'd pay the extra for the GoPro version.

enable touchscreen access

I don't normally recommend to destroy what you buy... but... there's a horizontal bar in the back of the case that prevents access to the touchscreen of the gopro 4 silver... however I just cut it away and I'm good now. ;-) Also note that this case is slightly larger than original GoPro case

It works as it should

The camera fits the housing just fine and the openings are well positioned for microphone connections etc. The flanged base mount also fits the official GoPro hardware as it should with no interference problems.

question

Can I change the back so I can used the LCD Touch Panel with this case?I appreciate you help.
Asked by: Gabriel M.
yes and no. No, you can't use the back of an original case from GoPro because this skeleton case is of slightly larger dimensions AND so is the back , so the original GoPro cases won't fit. However, you can 'change' the back.... you can use the back of this skeleton housing if you cut away the rear horizontal band that blocks access to the screen. So , using a secateur ( hand pruner, pruning shear ) I just cut away the plastic in the back ( and fine-tune the cut-off with a small blade from my pocket knife ). it would also work WITHOUT the back on it if you just strap some elastic band around the case .
