Acer C720-3605 Overview

  • 1Description

The Acer C720-3605 11.6" Chromebook is pre-installed with the Chrome operating system, which uses apps to supply most features and functions, such as creating reports, playing games, browsing the Internet, and more. The majority of apps require online access for use but hundreds can also be used offline. The Chromebook's 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi allows you to download apps from the Chrome Web store and then use them.

The Chromebook's screen is 11.6" and displays content in a native resolution of 1366 x 768. Store data in the Chromebook's 32GB SSD or online via the cloud storage option, which allows you to access info from any computer. The Acer Chromebook weighs just under 3 lbs and offers up to 8.5 hours of battery life, making it ideal for use on long trips or for attending classes.

The Acer C720 relies on a dual-core Intel Core i3-4005U processor and 4GB of RAM to run multiple apps at the same time. The CPU also features integrated Intel HD graphics, which allows the computer to use two HD displays at once, and adds further support in processing visual content. When you want to see and chat online, a webcam and microphone are built into the top of the screen. For connecting to wireless peripherals, such as a mouse or speakers, the computer supports Bluetooth 4.0. A card reader is also included for transferring data to and from SD cards. Included along with the Acer Chromebook are a power adapter and 3-cell battery.

Dual-Core Haswell Intel Celeron Performance
This Chromebook features a dual-core 4th generation 1.7 GHz Intel Core i3-4005U processor, with 3MB of L3 cache. The Haswell CPU uses less energy to give you a longer battery life when compared to previous Intel processors. Having two cores also allows the notebook to run multiple apps at the same time without slowing down the system.
Internet Life
Log in once and you're set. The C720 syncs and safely backs up all you data to the cloud: docs in Google Drive, emails in Gmail, and even open browser tabs and bookmarks. Collaborate in real time or go solo with hundreds of apps that can be used while offline.
Chrome Web Store
Find thousand of Google apps in the Chrome Web Store. Many of them are free.
Quicker Startup and Virus Protection
The Chromebook starts within 7 seconds, so you wait less and do more. You won't be bothered by updates, as they're done automatically. The C720 has virus protection built-in, so it stays healthy.
Connect to a HDMI display to view photos on a larger screen.

    Acer C720-3605 Reviews

    C720-3605 11.6- Chromebook is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast if you have strong WiFi This is an upgrade from my early generation chromebook; upgrade was simple -- practically all my apps, extensions, and preferences arrived automatically. It is fast so long as the WiFi signal is strong, and otherwise slows considerably. Vast improvement when several tabs are open, which is normal for me. Most needed application software is free. Works smoothly with Android phone and tablet. Small and light for travel. Does almost all of what I need, missing compatibility only occasionally. Since practically everything is in the cloud, there is no worry about loss of data or viruses. Battery charges quickly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great buy Works great with no hassles. The Chrome OS is drop-dead easy to set up and use for most of the things that I do with a laptop. It is refreshing to not have to worry about malware and constant OS updates. The Acer has a great keyboard, screen, and performance. It is light and compact and seems well built. I mainly use it for word processing, e-mail, web surfing, and streaming video and it does those things quite well. Great for travel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The (almost) perfect Unix box I bought this Chromebook to be used solely as a Unix box, so I don't really care about ChromeOS and simply swap the SSD out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal. Good product. This is possibly the fastest chromebook you can get (besides the pixel) and it feels like it. It streams video seamlessly and I can easily have many tabs open at the same time. I also installed linux for some more powerful programs which runs very well. The only negatives would be slightly cheap feeling construction. The keyboard and trackpad feel and sound hollow when you press them. For such a cheap price it's a great computer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from only if you want a chromebook chromebook is not for everyone. every buyer has a unique way of using it. I bought it to set up crouton on this chromebook so that it can run ubuntu. so far it satisfies my needs. very convenient to carry around. the chrome os is quite fast (due to its simplicity) something to pay attention: 1. the battery life is not so great. max 4 hours instead of 8 hours as claimed if used continuously. 2. installing and running crouton requires developer's mode, which gives a 30s waiting time and a warning beep before boot-up. one has to tweak the hardware to disable the warning feature. be careful. and every chromebook has similar features for security. 3. developer's mode will not be as safe as the original. 4. chromebook has small storage. recommend 32gb version for installing linux system yourself. 16gb is not enough unless you only use chrome os and is very comfortable with cloud storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Chromebook Given the limitations of the Chromebook concept - the thing is really just an internet portal with some subsidiary capabilities - it's excellent. More than enough of processing power, very fast, decent battery life, reasonable price; what's not to like? It does exactly what I bought it for; no complaints.

what about creating doc or sheets ?
    Asked by: David K.
You can do this through Google Docs or Google Sheets. The Google products are capable of opening or saving files in the native Microsoft formats as well as their own. Microsoft also has apps available that work on Chromebook that are compatible like Excel Live and Word Live. You can browse the Google Chrome Web Store from any computer to find the apps that are available on Chrome for document and spreadsheet creation.

is there no right click here?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Yes and no. No there is no dedicated right button on the pad. (The pad itself is a button too, aside from understanding a single tap as a click too.) BUT if you click on the lower right corner of the pad, it does understand that you are indeed doing a right click and it will behave as such. (Note: this is all valid on my experience using crouton, I ave not been using chrome other than for just launching ubuntu unity)
