Must have a quick release
For use with my Canon 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM. I keep it attached to the tripod collar. It has the safety screws to prevent from sliding off tripod head, would have scored 5 stars if the attachment screw had a D ring but I tighten with a coin.

First impression is good.
The adjustment holes are curiously offset from the plate that came with my camera and I am not yet certain if this is going to be a problem or limiting. But, so far, the design seems solid and trustworthy for use with a fairly heavy camera and 400mm lens as well as with a spotting scope. Handy. Giving it a 4 out of 5 because it seems pretty expensive overall.
