Sensei LHR-T58 overview

  • 1Description

The 58mm 3-in-1 Rubber Lens Hood by Sensei blocks unwanted stray light from entering your camera's lens to minimize flare and glare. The 3-in-1 hood is extendable and provides three stages of shading. At its collapsed setting, the hood provides shading for 28mm lenses (in full-frame format, 18mm with APS-C format sensors), without vignetting. At its middle stage, it covers lenses up to 50mm (full-frame format, 35mm with APS-C). Fully extended, it covers lenses 70mm and up (full-frame format, 55mm with APS-C).

Additionally, in its collapsed stage the hood protects your lens from accidental impact, and saves space during transport. It attaches to your camera's lens via the threaded internal ring. The hood's ridged interior helps minimize light reflection. The hood's internal ring will accept a 55mm lens cap, which further allows you to protect the lens from dust, fingerprints, and scratches when the lens is not in use. The ideal lens cap to use for this is a center-pinch (push-on) type.

Note: Please note that with the lens hood attached you will no longer be able to use the original lens cap. The hood does have its own internal threads, and a 55mm center-pinch (push-on) type can be used even with the hood attached.

    Sensei LHR-T58 reviews

58mm 3-in-1 Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood for 28mm to 300mm Lenses is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Inexpensive Hood! I love love love this hood! The versatility of the collapsible rubber makes this the hood I've used the most since it arrived. The price couldn't be beat! I've always been of the mind that one should never spend too much on non-camera body or non-lens equipment (except, perhaps, for a good tripod), and this is a great little accessory that fits the bill! The rubber is soft and easy to collapse, but holds shape very well when extended. It's great! I've only owned it a short time, so I can't speak to durability yet, but it seems sturdy enough for average use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't expect it to last The Sensei cap that came as part of the package fits well. Any filters that are used get put on under the hood, but expect some vignetting. The rubber is incredibly soft and though it's easy to collapse & extend, it doesn't feel as though it will last. My primary reason for purchasing was to have a bumper at the end of my lens. To have something between the lens and any surface the camera is set upon. It does accomplish that, but the flimsy feel is bothersome. It's shipped with a plastic sleeve inside to insure it keeps it's shape. Once that's removed.... In short, I won't buy Sensei again but also didn't return this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement for the original nikon hood My Nikon hood that came with the lens fell apart when I put it on the lens. Apparently this is a common problem with this Nikon lens hood. I was not about to pay for a product that was so poorly designed. For the price and design this is a great lens hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old school lens hood This is one of the best hoods out there. I shoot micro 4/3 .and this hood keeps it all compact for taking out when your shooting. Very nice quality and opens to various sizes to match you focal length.Inexspensive but high quality. Sensei did a great job .!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed I needed a hood for my 55-300mm lens. This one makes it much easier to use out of my bag as it collapses for storage. Simple, elegant and a great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from purchased for shooting hockey through plexiglass After talking to others, I found these style rubber hoods are what most people are using when shooting hockey through Plexiglass. Shooting through plexi, reflections on the glass add ghosts and distortions to the resulting photograph. Placing the lens close or touching the plexi is best. This rubber hood works well half collapsed to both block reflections and provides shock protection from the front of the lens tapping the glass. Purchased a 77 and 58 mm and have found they do the job, and the price is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice hood B&H made this already nice hood better by including a lens cap at no extra charge, which is the next size down from the original cap. I don't know if this will be offered indefinitely, but it's a great deal for now.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lens Cap doesn't attach I guess that part of this is on me. However, when it says for 28mm to 300mm lenses with a 58mm size filter, I expected this to be just what I needed. I have a Canon 85mm 1.8 lens and thought I might need this when shooting outside in bright sun. My lens cap does not attach to this hood. I am being forgiving in rating this two stars because I didn't ask anyone at B&H prior to my purchase. If your lens cap will attach to this, I would rate it 4-5 stars.
