Miller Air Tripod System Overview

The Miller Air Carbon Fiber Tripod System is a lightweight system built for indoor and outdoor shooting conditions for both video and photo applications. It includes carbon fiber tripod legs designed for quick setups and breakdowns, and a pan and tilt fluid head offering constant drag in all temperature ranges. It also includes a quick-release camera plate, pan handle, padded tripod carry strap, and weatherproof, padded soft carry case. The system features a 4.4 lb - 11 lb payload range.

The tripod legs are height-adjustable in two stages between a ground-hugging 9.2" and secure 63". A neoprene grip on the upper leg section provides a comfortable way of moving the tripod when it's already set up. When the tripod is folded, you can use the included carry strap to carry the tripod over your shoulder as an alternative to using the carrying case. The fluid head offers two selectable counterbalance positions and 90° to -75° tilt range. It also provides a 60mm sliding range for the included camera plate.

The tripod has rubber feet that wind up to reveal spikes for use on soft ground. The camera plate offers 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera-mounting screws, and a 1/4"-20 screw adapter with a locating pin is also included for added safety.

Great tripod, well build materials. The move is sweet and smooth. Would definitely recommend it.

Sticks are broken, but wonderfully smooth action on the head

This has the potential to be a wonderful tripod. The head glides wonderfully and works extremely well, and I expected the sticks to be professional quality as well, considering the brand. However, I've now gotten two of this tripod now and both have fallen apart on first or second (gentle!) use. The lower section of the legs fall out when released, and even when gently pushed back they don't hold when locked or even stay in. Contrary to the heavy duty metal feel of most of the tripod, there appears to be a small plastic ring inside each of the lower legs responsible for holding them in place and keeping them from falling out which breaks on first use. This is unacceptable for a $900+ tripod system. Hopefully this is just a bad batch, but I am very disappointed with Miller.

This tripod is super dope. Not small/lightweight enough for my tastes when operating out of a backpack, so I use it for local shoots. Love the fluid head so much I want to marry it.

great for run and gun

light weight and really light the foam on the legs, much more comfortable when on the run.

We have the Compass 20 but needed something smaller to travel with. This is lighter and shorter, but there doesn't seen to be much if any compromise on quality, strength, and stability. The max payload is a little lighter and there are a few less settings on the head. The legs are very strong.

My favorite tripod!

I bought this as a travel tripod for a documentary shoot in Europe last spring. The legs collapse down small enough to fit into my checked luggage and I am able to easily fit the Air head in my carry on camera case. All-in-all, it is a fairly lightweight, efficient and sturdy solution for creating buttery smooth pans and tilts, adjustable to a broad range of different heights to cover nearly any situation.Simply stated, the Miller Air makes shooting fun again and has easily become the preferred tripod in my collection. The quick setup time, its rock solid build quality, and the agility it provides to move around and grab a variety of shots in a timely manner makes this my go-to tripod for nearly every assignment. If you've ever used a Miller head, you'll feel right at home with the Air and the professional quality and precision it delivers. I use it regularly with my FS100, Sony SLTs and now my A7Rm2 rig and I couldn't be more pleased with the results!

Solid build; great fluid head performance. I love the screw-release legs as opposed to latches.

There is no better investment than a great set of sticks. After a couple of years going for cheaper alternatives and jealously watching my work mates on their Miller tripods I bit the bullet. What great value for the sticks alone the head was surprisingly smooth for such a small unit will definitelybuy a compas head in future but for now the AIR fluid head is a nice bonus to a graet set of sticks.

question

Are there other accessory mounting options besides using the Miller Air Accessory Mounting Block on the Miller Air Carbon Fiber Tripod?
Asked by: John
At this time the the Miller Air Accessory Mounting Block is the only known accessory that can be attached. The size of the attachment screw is not known; probably it is a metric size. You can consider articulating arms with a clamp. Here is one suggestion: GyroVu Adjustable Clamp with Heavy Duty 11 Articulated Arm Monitor Mount B&H # GYGVCM11H Note: it is special order.

question

Please let me know which Miller tripod case comes with this tripod Miller Air Carbon Fiber Tripod System B&H # MI3005 MFR # 3005I don't see a link. Also, on Miller Sticks I have a Sachtler DV6 head. I measured about 33 from the head to the feet. I'm guessing a 35 tripod case would be fine. That's why I would like ton know which Miller tripod case this is? I have the same Miller Sticks as I mentioned above. Thank you Jimmy
Asked by: Jimmy
For future reference, please look under the Accessories tab for Bags & Cases. Of the seven we offer, I would suggest these based on economy to best choice to luxury. For budget: Ruggard Deluxe Padded 35 Tripod Case (Black) B&H # RUBD3035. For rugged airplane travel: SKB Roto-Molded Tripod Case with Wheels (37 Tall) B&H # SK1SKBR3709W For luxury: Porta Brace TLQB-39XT Quick Tripod/Light Case (Black) B&H # POTLQB39XT.

question

Is this suitable for canon c100 mark ii with shotgun mic, cinevate duzi v4, and canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens, and yes for long term ?
Asked by: Adi D.
This Tripod has a load capacity between 4.4 to 11 Pounds. The combination of items you listed will be pushing that load capacity. I recommend the Miller SOLO DV 20 instead, B&H # MIDS20SDV2, which has a load capacity up to 22 pounds. It will better be able to handle the items you listed and it is a great long term investment.https://bhpho.to/2AnvSJo

The version without the head is B&H # MISQ753SCFT. The answer above is aluminum not carbon fiber.

question

Has anyone checked the tripod/bag under the plane before? Is it a padded bag?
Asked by: Patrick
The case is padded, but I wouldn't trust checking it in by itself. If you remove the head from the sticks, they will fit comfortably in a large duffle bag. Then you'll still have room for extra gear :)
