SLR Magic Cine 17mm T1.6 Overview

The SLR Magic Cine 17mm T1.6 Lens with MFT Mount for BMPCC supports Cine Style shooting on the BMPCC. Although it features an MFT mount, it will vignette if used on cameras with a Micro Four Thirds-sized sensor. It features a fast T1.6 to T11 aperture range with a clickless iris that allows smooth pulls, and geared focus and aperture rings.

The lens follows the industry standard focus rotation, so when working with an optional follow focus unit there is no need to make an adjustment to how you work or add a reversing gear. It has also been designed to support the weight of an optional Achromatic Diopter without a lens support. Please note, to avoid vignetting only use the combination on a BMPCC camera with 77mm filters.

Coverage
The lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of:
40mm on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera, although some vignetting may occur
50mm on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera
35mm on a standard Micro Four Thirds Sensor, although some vignetting may occur
The clickless iris, allows you to smoothly adjust your exposure during the shot.
Built-in iris and focus gears follow industry standards, allowing you to work with optional follow focus units and lens gear motors.
Focus rotation of the lens follows the cinema standard, allowing you to swap between this and other optional lenses without having to change your workflow.

question

What SLR Magic Anamorphot model will suit this lens on the Pocket Cinema Camera?
Asked by: Hans
SLR Magic Anamorphot adapters do not work with lenses this wide. You would need to look at their 25mm option and we have that in a kit with the Anamorphot-40 1.33x.https://bhpho.to/2MUurVc

question

The title says this is for BMPCC, but as it's MFT, would it work on any MFT camera, such as the GH5?
Asked by: Chris
no, the BMPCC sensor is much smaller around x2.88 and the Sensor on the GH5 is x2. This will only work on the BMPCC and the BMMCC.

question

Why is the Iris rotation backwards on the SLR Magic line?
Asked by: Jim
We were unable to find an explanation as to why the iris rotation is reversed. I would suspect that it was design consideration so that the lens could be constructed compactly and economically.
