Ruggard PS-38 Overview

The Pro Strap with 3/8" Connector from Ruggard is designed for photographers in search of a more comfortable, secure and attractive way to carry heavier DSLR, mirrorless, or film cameras and lenses. This Pro Strap is fully adjustable from 25 to 48" and may be worn from the neck, shoulder, or across the chest.

For comfort, the main body of this strap is a 2.25" wide by 16" long, contoured pad made of soft, stretchable, high-density neoprene and backed with 1" wide, elastic, heavy-duty polyester that can absorb and help reduce shock and fatigue. By varying the width, this ample, contoured pad selectively distributes the load over a larger area. The underside of the pad features traction dots to help prevent unwanted slippage. These qualities make carrying your gear for extended periods of time easier and more pleasurable.

At each end of the shoulder pad is a quick-release connector that locks upon insertion into the corresponding quick-release on the end of the strap connector. To remove, simply squeeze the sides of the connector and pull-apart. As an added safeguard against accidental connector separation, Ruggard has provided a unique, sliding thumb-lock that engages with an audible click. The thumb-lock can be easily disengaged with one hand by simply pressing and sliding it downward.

Included with the strap are two 3/8 for attaching to the camera's strap lugs. The Pro Strap is also compatible with Ruggard Quick Hitch connectors. Replacement connectors are available for photographers who desire spares, want to switch connector styles, or attach a set of connectors to secondary cameras.

Strap got broke after two years of use

I was totally happy with the strap until it simply broke and drop my camera with a flash attached on a concrete floor - SONY 99 survived but SONY Flash did not - so now I have to spend 600$ for a new one. The company used leather type of material on the connectors and it simply disintegrate into thin air... Bad choice - looked fancy thou

A Good, Light Strap

I purchased this strap because I needed something less bulky for my EOS R when I'm just doing local photography. (The Pacsafe strap that's normally on it will go back on when I do international travel and I want the extra security of a steel-reinforced strap.) If one needs a light strap that's sufficiently cushioned, the no-frills Ruggard does the trick, at least for a smaller mirrorless camera.

Very comfortable, non-slip strap

I like neoprene straps for cameras as well as camera cases and shoulder bags. Even though the weight of the camera or the bag is the same, having the weight distributed over a wider area and having the elasticity of the neoprene absorb some of the shock or bounce while walking, the attached object feels lighter. I prefer a wider strap for larger attached objects (eg, DSLR, camera bag, or shoulder bag), but this strap is perfect for a mirrorless 4/3 camera, even with a zoom on it. The underside of the strap has small rubbery dots on it, making the strap fairly non-slip on the shoulder. Attachment to the camera is easy -- follow the printed pictogram directions (like IKEA directions). The strap has clips on both sides of the neoprene part, making it possible to disconnect the neoprene part and clip the remaining two sides together to use as a hand strap (although a bit long).

So much nicer than the OEM strap

Upgraded to a 5DS and have been shooting a 28-300mm lens, so my camera is upwards of 9lbs. That little Canon strap wasn't cutting it, well, it was cutting my neck. This strap spreads the weight across the lower back of your neck and shoulder to help reduce the fatigue of it hanging on you for extended periods of time. The longest I've worn my full weight camera, along with a small backpack was about 7 hours without removal, on a hike along the coast of Northern Ireland. By the end, the weight was felt, but not in a specific location like with normal small skinny straps. It has grooves in the padding so sweat doesn't accumulate also, and is easy to clean after a long day of hiking. I've bought a 2nd one for my other camera also. Highly recommended for the quality you get at this price.

Very comfortable. The ability to disconnect the strap from the camera by the quick-releases is a nice feature.

Good strap

This is a good strap and does take a lot of the shock out of hiking/walking around, but does have a personal minor issue. The strap is basically flat and sits up on your neck. Had they used a curved shape, the strap would be much more comfortable when worn.

question

i purchased this today at B & H, but threw the instructions away. How do I attach?

There are 2 female connectors on top of your camera body. Open one of the looped ends on your camera strap, and thread this end through one of the 2 female connectors on top of your camera body. See how to re-connect the loop after you pull it though the connector by looking at how the remaining loop to see how it is fastened. Repeat this with the other side of the strap on the remaining female connector on the camera. It's like putting a luggage tag on your suitcase.
