Ziv RS-UWIR100 Overview

The Universal Wired and Infrared Remote Release from Ziv is a two-in-one shutter release designed to work with most DSLR cameras.

The remote contains a built-in infrared transmitter which, when paired with an IR enabled DSLR, can wirelessly trigger the camera shutter from a distance of up to 15'. The infrared mode can be used with a single button press or can lock for bulb exposures.

The remote can also function as a wired trigger for select DSLR cameras when used with one of the 8 included shutter release cables. The wired mode also utilizes both single press and lock modes and does not require a battery to function. The switches on the back and sides of the remote are used to control a built-in LED which blinks in different patterns to indicate that the shutter has been triggered.

Note: The Infrared feature is not compatible with Sony cameras

Works well with Canon EOS line

I'm using this primarily for macro photos with my Canon 70D, and I have plans to do some night landscapes with this setup in the near future. So far, I've only used this with the cord, but it works great for that. I love having both a corded trigger and a wireless trigger in one, and it's great that the corded trigger doesn't require batteries. There's also a continuous shooting capability, which may come in handy if I ever get my macro process streamlined enough for rapid shooting. The integrated flashlight will also be handy for night shoots. I'm struggling to come up with anything negative to say about it, and the only thing I can come up with is that it doesn't have a belt clip.

Good, useful; used it relatively little as a remote wire release; don't know about its IR remote release qualities yet..

Can be used with the included adapter cables or as a remote. I use the cables on my D800 and Olympus OM-D 5 MkII. I had an older release that was specifically for the Nikon but the ten-pin connector would not thread properly and would often fall off. The connector on the Nikon cable for this release attaches securely. This is an excellent value and I highly recommend it.

I use a wired remote to ensure my getting steady shots when my Canon 70D or other one of my Canon cameras is on a tripod. And I use a wireless remote to get shots that include myself. This ZIV Universal Wired and Infrared Remote Release performs both ways and takes up the space of one remote.

The remote is easy to use, and works well from a distance. Great for self-portraits and family photos

Ziv Universal Wired & Infrared Camera Remote

It's not as large as one might assume from the B&H photo, but I like that as well as how responsive my Nikon 750 is to it. I bought this as a replacement for an older, and smaller Vello remote, but that one never worked as well. This remote works using infrared light to trigger the shutter, but also comes with many wired attachments to fit a wide variety of cameras, as the plugs to attach them are all different. It's plastic, runs off a small 12 volt #23 battery, which was a bit of a surprise, but I think the infrared needs the power of a higher voltage to give a more reliable wireless capability over a longer distance. So far I'm very pleased with this remote.

The Ziv universal wired and remote release works great with my Canon 90D. The remote feels good to hold and is small enough to not be obtrusive.

Not for my Camera

When used with my Canon EOS 5D-III, it triggers the shutter instantly, whetehr the camear is set to no delay, 2 seconds delay, or 10 seconds delay. Not too helpful
