Maximize the potential of your AirTTL-equipped flashes through the use of an Air Remote TTL-N from Profoto. This powerful remote provides you with an outstanding set of features, including support for wireless power control and TTL, including high-speed sync, with Nikon cameras, as well as compatibility with the Profoto Control and Profoto Camera apps for iOS and Android. Operating on a 2.4 GHz frequency, the Air Remote can sync with flashes up to 1000' away with normal triggering and 330' with TTL. TTL is useful because it offers automated shooting and exposure and brings the advantage of high-speed sync, enabling the use of shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second. Also, the controller has 8 channels and 3 groups, ensuring minimal interference with other nearby systems and equipment. Each group can be controlled independently from one another, permitting ±2 EV adjustment of power ratios for TTL systems and nine stops of manual control. You have access to remotely turn on/off the modeling lights or heads, making it easier to adjust lights in your studio. Additionally, there is a mini-USB port for installing firmware updates and it runs on just two AAA batteries.

Profoto Air Remote TTL Overview

AirTTL flashes and packs, such as the B1X and Pro-10, fully support TTL communication from an Air Remote TTL-N and a compatible Nikon camera. This makes shooting incredibly simple as the camera and flashes automatically determine the best power settings for the scene in order to produce a properly exposed image.
In addition to TTL and manual controls, with AirTTL flashes and packs you can make use of both with hybrid operation where an initial exposure is captured with TTL and then the system is switched into manual where it retains the exposure settings.
By using TTL, users can enjoy almost automatic flash exposure in a range of conditions as well as the ability to access high-speed sync for using shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second. When using TTL, power ratios between groups can be adjusted from ±2 EV.
A 2.4GHz radio system ensures exceptional reliability with ranges up to 1000' in standard sync modes and 330' with TTL/HSS.
Users can choose between eight different channels to help minimize interference with other nearby systems and control up to three groups of light on each channel.
A mini-USB port is available for installing firmware updates.

Profoto Air Remote TTL Reviews

Two Cameras, Two Remotes

I have started to rely more on fill flash. I generally hold the camera with one hand and the flash with the other. I bought a second remote so I wouldn't have to swap the remote when I carry two cameras, This setup works great. Profoto is expensive, but this product is easy to use and reliable.

It works very well. Has a good range. I recently used three Profoto's to light an entire rodeo arena. This remote never lost connection. However, for the price it is a battery gobbling stink beast. The build is great. The battery door is designed right. The price of this is way to much.

Quality Concern

The back light on the display did not work right out of the box. B&H did an outstanding job on providing a replacement. When I reached out to Profoto to advise them on the quality concern, they did not seem to care. Paying a premium price for a product, I would expect a premium product and support.

Connects instantly to profotos and love this remote! The only weird thing is sometimes it shuts off on it's own for now reason at all? Not sure why, to save battery? Still love it though!! Must have!

It took me a long time to finally buy this now vital piece of equipment. I'm so happy I did. I'm able to control each head without leaving my camera, allowing me to be much more efficient on set, even without an assistant.

The profoto A1 is listed as a compatible unit, but the A1x is not. Is the list not updated, or are they indeed not buddies?

They’re definitely pals. One of the beautiful things about the ProFoto system is that all of their wireless “Air” strobes work in harmony. That includes the bigger ones too!

if camera triggered remotely (WR-R10) will the profoto transmitter work?
Asked by: Jackson
long story short - YES. STEP 1 transmit a signal to your shutter release (this can be as simple as pushing the shutter button, or on a wired cable, or a wireless wr-r10, or what I do is a pair of pocket wizards using a cable connection not the hotshoe) - the shutter release action will activate the hotshoe device STEP 2 the hotshoe device can be a profoto transmitter to the flash (the profoto flashes have a built in receiver)
