Nikon 8397 overview

  • 1Description

The dark green Aculon 6x20 Laser Rangefinder from Nikon is a distance-finding accessory designed to measure the distance of targets up to 550 yards away. The Aculon rangefinder features a Distant Target Priority mode that automatically displays the distance to the furthest target sighted when overlapping subjects are viewed.

The monocular can also perform single or 20 second continuous measurements, if required. The 6x magnification is suitable for identifying targets at mid-range distances and a long eye relief helps eyeglass wearers use the Aculon. Information is displayed in an in-view LCD display and an auto-off function saves battery life. Multi-coated optics, rainproof construction, a wide temperature tolerance, and one-touch laser activation make this rangefinder a full-featured optical instrument for many activities where determining accurate distances are critical.

    Nikon 8397 reviews

Aculon 6x20 Laser Rangefinder (Dark Green) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Aculon! I am going to use this with my very high end air gun! And oh my! It's the best $130 (approx) I've ever spent. And I've spent a LOT! It nailed distance from 5 yards to 150 so far. And it was a hit with my grand kids who all mastered it within minutes - ages 9 to 12). I highly recommend this to light users who aren't thinking about calculating miles. I very highly recommend it to any shooter who doesn't have one. It's a tiny hand held revelation. No more guessing distances, mil dot compensation etc. The optics are very good. Didn't find the manual till I took the little shipping box apart but you don't really need one! Just push the 'On' button and you're rolling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm Happy This is my first and hopefully the last rangefinder I'll ever need. It's not as big as some I've seen, but it does not get lost in my hand, like the review I read from the 6' man and I'm 6'3. I bought it exclusively for hunting, but I can see myself using it for other things as well. It appears to be extremely accurate and as far as someone's comment on this unit being in accurate because of being shaky, I'd suggest leaning against something. It's not the units fault that someone shakes. I shake a little as well I'm perfectly happy with the size and performance of this unit. Would suggest it to a friend and buy it again if I had to. PS: The color on the ad and the color on the box states green, but it's more of a dark gray to me, which I'm more happy with than I would have been the drab green. But then again, I didn't buy it to make a fashion statement :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value, quality product I bought this to use for hunting and for firing range work. I'm still relatively new to this and mental range calculation is a black art unless you are very experienced. I was attracted by the price and other reviews which rated it highly. Simple to use, compact and light design which will fit into pockets or it can be carried in the provided belt pouch. I found it easy to get a range off relative narrow objects at decent distances. As you would expect Nikon optics are sharp. I do my shooting/hunting in the 100-250 yd range and this is ideal, even though it is good for 500+ distances. Will do everything most shooters will ever need. Waterproof except for the battery access, which may be a requirement for some but not me. The additional bonus is I can use it for golf! One of the best value products of this type available IMHO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nikon Aculon 6x20 Laser Rangefinder I bought this product to assist me with long range air gun shooting, where correct distance is critical. This product is simple to use, accurate, small and light weight. There are only two buttons, so not much to learn. It just works and it can continuously measure distance on a moving object if you keep the button depressed. In addition, the magnification and optical clarity are appreciated. Many other units are more expensive but this one gets the job done and for my purpose I couldn't ask for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little Range finder. I picked up the Nikon Aculon Range Finder for my Crossbow hunt. It worked wonderfully. Had no issues at all with it. Aquires the target fast and worked flawlessly for me on a 5 day hog hunt. I shopped around for a while looking for an econimcal Rangefinder that wouldnt cost me an arm and a leg but also provide a reliable ranging experience. The Nikon Aculon did just that. I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect For The Price Great rangefinder. Does exaxtly as advertized. I bought this rangefinder as a simple device to tell me the range at which I am aiming with my rifle. It works flawlessly as such. If you want a no-frills rangefindinder, look no further. Super-clear glass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another quality Nikon product I have used this rangefinder for both hunting and photography. I find it to be accurate and quick to focus in good lighting. The focus searches in low light conditions but is sufficient to get acceptable readings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buttons are loud My last Nikon was an archers choice and lasted 10 years. This one looks fine, however the button used to range makes a clicking sound. My archers choice didn't make a sound... I'm a bowhunter so this is unfortunate and we'll have to see how loud it is in the field. Most times I try to range ahead of time and memorize my distances, however sometimes I have to range on the fly and I'm hoping the button doesn't bust me. But for the cost I can't complain too much.
