Sensei FH-150-14M Overview

The Sensei Pro 150mm Aluminum Filter Holder is designed to allow for the convenient use of 150mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters with the Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens without vignetting.

Placement of the filter holder onto a Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens is easily accomplished by sliding it over that lens's integrated hood. An included mounting foam square intended to be temporarily inserted between the holder's plastic front filter slots acts as a stopper for optimal positioning of the lens. By first using the mounting foam, the lens's integrated hood does not conflict with any filters that will be placed within the filter slots. To prevent flare particularly when using the filter slot closest to the holder with backlit subjects, the space between that slot and the holder has been reduced to less than 2mm.

Once the Sensei Pro 150mm Aluminum Filter Holder is installed, silicone friction strips along its inside diameter helps provide a reliable, yet adjustable connection that allows the holder to be rotated 360°, permitting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning. Two locking knobs along the rear of the filter holder ensure that its grip on the Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens remains secure.

The Sensei Pro 150mm Aluminum Filter Holder is preinstalled with two pairs of filter slots, a configuration that accommodates two filters. Also included is a third pair of filter slots, which allows up to three filters to be used at the same time.

  • Allows filters to be conveniently used with the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens without vignetting
  • Holds 150mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters
  • Preconfigured to hold two filters and can accommodate up to three filters
  • The closest filter slot to the holder is only 2mm away to prevent flare with backlit subjects
  • Included mounting foam helps to ensure optimal positioning of the holder on a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens
  • Inner diameter's silicone strips help provide a secure connection
  • Locking knobs allow for adjustment of holder's grip
  • Durable aluminum-alloy construction

Works nice. Once mounted you rotate it. Do not leave with it on lense. Take off cause its heavy and falls off and the glass broke. I bought another glass cpl. Great but I was bad.

It works but...

This is an aluminum 150mm filter holder for the 14x24 Nikon lens. It works as expected, does not leak, and seems rugged. My only problem is it can ruin your filters without care. Mounting to the lens correctly requires the provided foam rubber insert, placing the filter holder face down and inserting your lens until resting on the foam and tightening. While this does work don't ever loose the foam insert. If lost you all convenience to precise attachment is also lost. No foam pad or if the holder shifts on the lens can lead to scraping your filters on the lens hood accidentally, not good. I would not have bought it knowing the above chance of ruining my filters.

Not compatible with Lee ND Filters!

Build Quality good, design poorly. You can't fit a square pig in a round hole. Lee filters are square, this design round. That results in a lot of light leaking and makes this holder unusable.

Solid construction!

I was considering the Lee Filter holder for my Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens, but after reading the reviews, I decided to purchase the holder from Sensei, and I was not disappointed. It's top-quality construction, mounts and fits the lens perfectly, and holds the filters securely. I'm very happy with my decision, and saved a considerable amount of money.

Light leak

This product was not designed right. It causes light leak form the corners I have to carry around black masking tape in order to block the light that leaks in from the corners.

little bit heavy but it is worth!

First when I got it, I felt like this one is going to be heavy if I use it along with the lens, camera and sitting on tripod to make sure not tipping off the ground. But at the end it actually worked well! Also if I rotate the filter to vertical keeping the camera horizontal it gives a small vignetting but that works for me because most of my shots are horizontal only. good for the price for sure!

Great filter holder

This item works well with the Nikon lens. It mounts well even though we use the included foam. It’s very easy to drop in to my kit bag and to be able to mount the holder properly to the lens. I was able to use it with Lee filters by being a little more careful when I mounted it. I like this product

Does it work on samyang 14mm?
Asked by: Matias
No, the Sensei Pro 150mm Aluminum Filter Holder for Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8 Lens, B&H # SEFH15014M, is not compatible for use on the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Nikon F. If you are looking for a filter holder for use with the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Nikon F, I would instead recommend the NiSi 150mm Filter Holder for Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens, B&H # NIPFH150SY14, for your usage needs.

question

I have this filter to use with my 14-24mm and consistently get lens flare circles on long exposures. I have the view finder covered, so light is not leaking in that way. It occurs in pretty much all light conditions other than cloudy dusk (i.e. bright light from any source no matter if the source is in the front, rear or side of the camera). I have the filter in the closest slot to the lens, as instructed. Does anyone else have this issue and how do you prevent it?
Asked by: Jessica N.
I don't actually own this yet... but from an engineering standpoint: any time light hits the filter some will bounce off the exterior surface, some will pass through, and a small portion will bounce off the interior surface depending on the angle of incident. With a ND filter the shutter is open long enough to pick up on the tiny amount of light that exits after being stuck inside the filter, I would be curious to add some macro rings and focus of the close surface of the filter and get a direct image of the light source being reflected. The light that bounces off the interior surface will continue to reflect into the filter until the angle is steep enough to exit. That is the cause of most round lens flares. To minimize the occurrence cover the back side of the filter so no direct light hits the filter.

question

Does this work on the tokina 16-28 as well???
Asked by: Anonymous
I'm not sure. As far as I know it only fits 14-24 lenses. I'm actually returning mine because I didn't realize it doesn't work with my lee 4x4 filters. I didn't read the description right when I placed the order. I can say that it's really great quality and the design works great if you have the right filters for it.
