GoPro CHDHY-401 overview

  • 1Description

With a built-in touch screen LCD for composing shots and accessing the menu, the GoPro HERO4 Silver eliminates the need for an LCD BacPac. It is able to capture Full HD 1080p at up to 60 fps and - for even more detailed shots - capture 2.7K (2704 x 1520) at 30 fps and 4K (3840 x 2160) at 15 fps. There are a number of other frame rates and resolutions as well, including a 100 fps mode ideal for creating slow motion effects that is available in 960p and 720p. But the HERO Silver's capabilities don't stop with video. It can also take 12-megapixel stills, as individual shots, in intervals for stitching together time-lapse movies, or in momentary bursts of up to 30 photos per second - the latter helping ensure you catch fast action at just the right moment.

For remote monitoring and operation, the camera is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, letting you pair it with a mobile device or the separately available Smart Remote. There is also a USB port for file transfer, charging, or to connect the optional 3.5mm mic adapter. Further promoting its take-anywhere claim, the 131' Standard Housing is included, and not only keeps the camera dry, it adds an extra layer of protection. In addition to the bundled flat and adhesive mounts, the camera is also adaptable to a wide range of separately available mounts from GoPro and third-parties - with options to accommodate just about any scenario imaginable.

Built-In Touch Screen Display
A notable addition compared to the HERO3+ Silver Edition, the HERO4 Silver Edition incorporates a touchscreen display on the back of the camera. This allows you to compose your shots, review footage already recorded, and access settings. The screen is responsive to both touch and swipe gestures - designed to make navigation simpler and more intuitive
Built-In Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Allows you to pair the HERO4 with a mobile device running the GoPro App, or use the separately available Smart Remote. With the app you can preview, playback, and share your favorite shots via email, text, Facebook, Instagram, and more. With the Smart Remote, it is possible to control of up to 50 cameras from distances of up to 600' line-of-sight. The advantage of using Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi - where supported - is reduced power consumption
GoPro App and Studio Software
Expand your GoPro experience with the free GoPro App and GoPro Studio software. The GoPro App allows you to control your camera remotely using your phone or tablet, view and share your content, and watch "best of" videos on the GoPro Channel. Use GoPro Studio to create your own engaging GoPro-style videos to share with the world

    GoPro CHDHY-401 reviews

HERO4 Silver is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 289.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally I wanted a GoPro for so long and finally caved in and bought one. Silver is handsdown a better buy than the Black, especially if you only have one GoPro. The LCD screen makes framing the shot much easier. The only thing is that it takes a long time to learn how to use the camera with the optimal settings and how to post edit to get photos and videos to look cool. I wish I bought it earlier before my vacation to have more time to learn how to use it properly for the best shots in all conditions. This is not an auto settings camera. Auto will only produce mediocre shots. Youtube has a long of advice though to teach you the basics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adventures like never seen before! I use this driving the california coast, playing in the ocean, kayaking, riding bikes with my kid and jumping off rocks in Big Sur. Footage you can never capture without a GoPro. I love the silver bc no bulky attachment for a screen, easy to use (even for people who dont get gadgets), Small and easily carried, tied or locked on to any type of anchor for the best shots! I really have not found anything I do not like about the silver 4. As i have had the later models ... spending the extra cash is worth it. seriously ... save on the starbucks and get the whole package. Your going to eventually fall in love with it and wish you had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great System Recently took it to a short adventure in Philippines with me. I did lots of diving, kayaking, and island hopping activities. It's compact, robust, produces some amazing footage and decent image quality (I was surprised with it's underwater and low light performance). I normally shoot with a mirrorless camera, but I couldn't justify the cost of an underwater housing, the rig, and all the lighting since I usually dive only once a year. While the image quality cannot be compared to a DSLR or mirrorless camera, it is still quite good, especially with the SRP red filter for diving, and much cheaper to put through some beating that are inevitable on any adventures. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Currently the best all-round GoPro model available. Currently my favourite GoPro camera. I prefer it over the Session and the Black, just because it offers all the features you need, has the most usefulness, and you are not paying for anything more that you don't need. With the Black, you don't get a screen which is really handy for framing and you are very likely not going to be filming 4K as it will just drain the battery faster and you will mostly be editing in 1080p. With the Session, you are limited with features and you do not have a screen and it is not much smaller than the Silver. The Silver beats both of these camera's in my opinion because it is much more useful for everyday action camera filming due to its size, capturing features, the built-in screen and at a better price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice set of options I have an original Hero (1?) and found the menu system archaic. Purchased the Hero4 Silver because of the improved menu GUI, built-in LCD and variety of frame-rate and resolution options. The only major differences from the 4-Black is 30P-4K (Silver has 15fps at 4K) I don't need 4K at 30fps at this time. Note: the 4-Black doesn't have an LCD display (a subtraction of a feature from the Silver). I'm using this camera for a film where I need wide angle in close-quarters. So far the camera is more user friendly than the original and seems to be performing as advertised.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I expected plus more! Great little camera for easy and convenient shooting. I've wanted a GoPro for a very long time, and when the Hero 4 came out I finally pulled the trigger. The built-in LCD really helps for framing shots, and the touch screen is very simple and easy to use. Still figuring out best settings for time lapse and night lapse, but both very cool features. Video and audio quality are very good. I've been shooting in 2.7K-24P-Wide and outputting 1080P. Seems to work well so far. Just updated my GoPro Studio app, iPhone app, and downloaded the latest firmware for the GoPro. No more issues with connecting/controlling from the app. Very happy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works seamlessly with the phone app Aerial video in a Walkera G-2D gimbal in a Phantom FC40 quad coppter. Pros: Seamless WIFI remote control with my android phone. Small, Lightweight, Color LCD screen on the back. Easy download when connected to computer. Cons: Expensive Battery drains quickly when using WIFI. It's hard to pick up the camera without pressing a button turning it on/off or turning wifi on/off. Does not charge when camera is on and connected to computer usb. For instance, I left the camera connected after downloading the videos figuring it would charge, but drained the batter instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Camera I've ever had! First of all bh&photo is hands down the best website for PRICE, shipping, and customer service! At first I was a little nervous, considering I've never heard of bh photo and they were WAY cheaper then everyone else; including @! NOW; I would order anything from these guys! 70inch 4K is next! The main reason I bought a GoPro is for traveling; with the 4silver I also purchase a chest mount; 3 ft selfie stick and a few extra batteries! The 4 sliver already comes with a waterproof housing! GoPro 4 Silver is amazing! If you are planning on spending 300 to 500. On a GoPro I recommend looking at Cnet.com and YouTube for both personal and visual reviews each site really helped me decide which camera I wanted to purchase. The 4silver is known for The best low light settings and detailed at far distances. The 4black is known for close up detailed pictures/videos! For me since I've NEVER had a GoPro.. I highly recommend the 4Silver; the lcd screen is very helpful and DOESN'T drain the battery! I hope my personal experience helps you too! Good Luck!
