SLR Magic Cine 35mm T0.95 Mark II Overview

The SLR Magic Cine 35mm T0.95 Mark II Lens with Fuji X Mount supports cine-style shooting on a camera with a Fuji X mount. It features an extremely fast T0.95 to T16 aperture range, geared focus and aperture rings, and a clickless iris that allows smooth aperture pulls.

The lens follows the industry-standard focus rotation, so when working with an optional follow focus unit there is no need to make an adjustment to how you work or add a reversing gear. The lens front does not rotate as you focus the lens; this allows you to use optional accessories such as clip-on matte boxes or the SLR Magic Anamotphot 1.33x - 50 anamorphic adapter. The Mark II features stronger mechanical components than the Mark I version of the lens, allowing you to use an optional SLR Magic Anamporphot 1.33x - 50 Adapter or an optional SLR Magic Achromatic diopter without requiring an optional lens support.

Coverage
The lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of:
80mm on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera
100mm on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera
70mm on a standard Micro Four Thirds Sensor, although some vignetting may occur
52mm On Sony E or Fuji X mount cameras
The clickless iris allows you to smoothly adjust your exposure during the shot.
Built-in iris and focus gears follow industry standards, allowing you to work with optional follow focus units and lens gear motors.
Focus rotation of the lens follows the cinema standard, allowing you to swap between this and other optional lenses without having to change your workflow.

SLR Magic Cine 35mm T0.95 Mark II Reviews

Not irreproachable

I own the 25mm T0.95 and the 50mm T0.95 for M43, both fantastic: well made, with a beautiful bokeh (and I realize why these lenses have the name magic in it), a little heavy, but I wanted to get the 35mm too. I received it yesterday. What can I say? first, it is longer than the 50mm, and weight the same: bigger and heavy. The rendering is just gorgeous, and the sharpness at full aperture is better than both the 25 and the 50. It is perfectly usable fully open; the bokeh is just dreamy and is the main reason why I love these lenses. But I have three concerns: first, the integrated hood is extremely tight and difficult to extend, the screw in metal lens cap is not practical at all and the most important, the focus ring is lousy mounted, imprecise (there are at leat 2-3mm when you turn from one side to the other) and with such a shallow depth of field, the precision of the focus ring frankly leaves something to be desired. So, optically, a must have. Mecanically, not very good, while both the 25 and the 50 are just irreproachable. A little bit disappointed.

question

HiThis version does it cover the full frame of the a7sii? Or does it vignette? Thanks :)
Asked by: Robin T.
The largest sensor this lens can cover is APS-C. Therefore it will not cover any full frame sensor such as the one in the Sony a7s II.

question

Will this work with the 1.33x 40 anamorphot?
Asked by: Mitch H.
Yes, SLR Magic says their 35mm will work with their 1.33x 40 anamorphot. Cue Quentin Tarantino.

question

does this lens cover full frame?
Asked by: Anonymous
This lens is recommended for Super 35/APS-C or smaller sensors. It will vignette on a Full Frame sensor.
