Note:
Please note that some cameras may require that Shutter Lock be disengaged when using this lens.
Multi-Coating for Consistent Performance
The optical construction incorporates three high refractive index elements, two extra-low dispersion elements, one hybrid aspherical element, and one aspherical element to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion, producing sharper imagery. With its Ultra Multi Coated lens, flare and ghosting is minimized, and the lenses are matched to a color standard, eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.
Industry-Standard Gearing
The Rokinon DS lenses use industry-standard gearing for focus and aperture rings. Each lens in the Rokinon DS series share common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories such as follow focus units or iris motors don't have to be re-positioned. A de-clicked aperture ring makes it easy to perform smooth iris pulls, and a minimum focusing distance of 11" allows you to get up close to your subject.
Ready for Cinematic Applications
This 14mm lens was developed primarily for film and video applications and sports an approximately 115.7° angle-of-view on full-frame cameras. A built-in petal-type lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.

question

How is this different from the other 14mm Rokinon Lens?
Asked by: Anonymous
The new Rokinon DS lenses are the second generation of cine lenses from Rokinon. They offer a few notable benefits for video shooters, in addition to the use of de-clicked aperture rings and gears. First, the focus and aperture gears are unified, meaning that swapping out lenses will not require adjustments to your rig. Second, for convenience to the user there are dual focusing scales, one on each side. Third, all of the Cine DS lenses are tested to be color matched, ensuring that your footage will feature the same color and contrast throughout your production.

question

HI! Does someone know if this MFR # DS14M-C lens has any REAL optical improvement over the previous MFR # CV14M-C ? I mean, Especially regarding Sharpness.Or it only has matched color rendition and geared rings with other new DS lenses?Thank you very much!!
Asked by: ALICIA
Apart from the dual scale geared rings, the focus and iris gear positions have been moved along the axis in order to maintain a consistent position from lens to lens making swapping a breeze when using a follow focus or motors. Each of the Cine-DS lenses is carefully color matched to a certain degree in order to sustain a specific cinematic look throughout the set. The optics remain the same throughout all of the different versions so dont expect any sort of increase in image quality from one option to the other.

question

Hi There,Does anyone know of a good MATTE BOX solution for the Rokinon 14mm Cine DS Lens?(I know typically with wide angle lenses, they run into vignetting problems if the Matte Box isn't wide enough.)Does anyone know of a good Matte Box that works great with this lens?Additionally, do you know if that same Matte Box will also work for the Rokinon Cine DS 12mm Fisheye Lens?In advance, thank you for your help and for your recommendations. I really appreciate it!
Asked by: Tyler
The answer to your question depends on the lens and what sensor size you are using for there is no universal matte box solution for ultra wide lenses. If you are using a 12mm Fish Eye on a Full Frame camera, you most likely will only be able to use a 4x4 or larger filter holder. If you are using a 12mm on a MFT camera, you will be able to use a normal 4x4 matte box. We have those by Redrock Micro, Bright Tangerine, Tilta, Lanparte, Genustech, etc, etc. These are seen listed under the Accessories tab on the lenses web page. You should be able to use the matte boxes listed for a 14mm as well but that can only be verified by testing on a case by case basis.

I noticed that this lens’ hood does not come off like the longer lenses in the DS line. Will it still work with my matte box with 4x4” filters? I’m worred the built-in hood petals will block the filter from being inserted into the top of my matte box...
Asked by: Attn Wil
You most likely will be unable to use your matte box. The glass on this lens actually bulges outside the body the lens which is why the hood is attached, to protect it. I had to take my matte box off because no matter how close I got it, it was still in frame. This lens is insanely wide.

Why choose the 14mm over the 16mm Rokinon Cine DS, other than T-stop?
Asked by: Robert
Along with being a bit faster it is also a bit wider. It is simply a matter of if you need the 14mm Focal Length or 16mm.
