The NBE-M5-16 5 GHz 16dBi NanoBeam airMAX Bridge from Ubiquiti Networks directs RF energy in a tighter beamwidth. NanoBeam maximizes noise immunity by its uniform bandwidth. With focus in one direction, the NanoBeam blocks or spatially filters out noise, so noise immunity is improved. This feature is important in an area crowded with other RF signals of the same or similar frequency.

The NBE-M5-16 combines the radio and antenna in an efficient and compact unit that gets maximum gain out of the smallest footprint. It features an innovative mechanical design and high speed processor for optimal performance at low cost.


airMAX Technology
Ubiquiti's Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) airMAX protocol allows each client to send and receive data using pre-designated time slots scheduled by an intelligent AP controller. This "time slot" method eliminates hidden node collisions and maximizes airtime efficiency. It provides significant performance improvements in latency, throughput, and scalability compared to all other outdoor systems in its class.
Intelligent QoS: Priority is given to voice/video for seamless streaming.
Scalability: High capacity and scalability.
Long Distance: Capable of high-speed, carrier-class links.


airOS is a versatile, highly developed Ubiquiti firmware technology. It is an intuitive technology, designed to require no training to operate. Behind the user interface is a powerful firmware architecture, which enables high-performance, outdoor multi-point networking. NanoBeam uses airOS which provides additional advantages, including protocol support, Ubiquiti channelization, spectral width adjustment, ACK auto-timing, AAP technology, and multi-language support.
Integrated airView provides advanced spectrum analyzer functionality such as waterfall, waveform, and real-time spectral views that allow operators to identify noise signatures, and plan their networks to minimize noise interference. Waterfall aggregates energy over time for each frequency. Waveform aggregates energy collected. Real-time feature shows energy in real time as a function of frequency. Recording automates airView to record and report results.
airControl is a powerful and intuitive web-based server network management application, which allows operators to centrally manage entire networks of Ubiquiti devices. It features network map, monitor device status, mass firmware upgrade, Web UI access, management of groups of devices, and task scheduling.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great, Fairly Easy To Set Up. Put up a pair of these to go between two buildings. The buildings are only about 100 feet apart. The software seems to be very good. The setup was fairly easy, I'm a semi-advanced user. Mounting and aiming was easy. One is mounted on the exterior and other is mounted inside. Great Signal strenght. They have only been up a week, so I don't know about long term results. Definitely will consider Ubiquiti products in the future.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good product, great service from B&H I bought two of these to replace an old, troublesome buried ethernet cable with repeaters along the run. The NanoBeam radios were easy to install and setup and they work exactly as Ubiquiti literature says they will. I'm using them at less than the maximum range and needed to turn the transmit power down significantly, so longer ranges are likely to work well also. In my use I have found no problems or difficulties.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install, Great performance I use as a Base Station in Access Point mode to another remote device as a Station Bridge. The Station has a Ubiquiti 2.4 Access point connected. The 5 gig link is about 2000 ft. At this distance I have a very stable link running 300 meg both directions. Also benefit from the quiet 5 gig band with the 2.4 G very noisy in this location.

One is mounted outside as it would not send the signal through the garage door but the other one is in the house and sending the signal through a window glass.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hardware but documentation could use some help Used to connect two buildings over a 4000' point to point link in a rural area. Devices are small and efficient but come with minimal instructions and the downloadable PDF is not very clear on terminology and function of the settings. Fortunately for me, I have retained enough of my decade old networking experience to be able to get the link up in just over an hour for site placement testing. Because of trees in between sites, it took several more hours to find the optimum mounting location. They are small enough to mount to the bottom of a satellite dish mount using the included band clamp. This worked for one end of my link and the other was screwed into a flat spot on the side of the building. The link has been up and stable for over a week with only a couple ms added latency. I found it produced fewer errors when I turned down the amplification. The link speed dropped from 300 to 144 but we are using very little bandwidth anyway. The errors might be because they are so close together and there could be some refection off a metal roof and solar panels in the beam path. I am extremely happy with the quality and performance of this product especially since the price is about half of what others get for a lesser product.
